And Yay. My guess was right. I don't think they actually play Arcade Fire on KROQ yet, though. But I did hear Walking with a Ghost on San Diego's 91X. Boo Ya!

Yeah, I checked out the Arcade Fire's website a few months ago. That's why I knew what they look like. Did you know the buzz surrounding them is so big at the moment that they made the cover of the Canadian edition of Time magazine?

Don't tell me, i saw the 1st episodes and then i didn't even touch the TV as i got consumed with school. i'm waiting to buy the season. So, don't tell me what happened! especially the last episode! i had to stop my sister from telling me that one, and by the sound of her voice, it's a good one!!!

Lost again
Annie, if ALL you saw is the 1st episode, you can start watching again NOW, or at least taping it, cause the SECOND episode is on this week. I'm assuming they'll air them in order over the summer. Plan your Wednesdays around it. (Plus, occasionally they rerun them ALSO on Saturday nights, in case you miss it.)
It's the best show on TV right now, as far as I'm concerned, and not just because of the Canadian mentioned earlier.

Lost again 2
Yeah, but that's not even it. Yes, the big picture is a plane crash.
But the questions are:
Why did it crash?
Why were these particular people on the plane together?
What is the island doing to them all?
What mystical force guides them? And what does all of this have to do with the human condition?
THAT's why to watch it.

No spoilers here
I'm not giving ANYTHING away. I hate people who give spoilers.
I'm just saying, if you just say "plane crash" that's not enough to get someone to watch it. From that description, I thought it would suck. I had NO IDEA how totally mind-blowing it would be.

haha, soooooo true!
I saw more than 1 episode. I was hooked, but just couldn't get on schedule with it. Then I went through a "i don't like or watch TV" phase too... which i might still be in... except I watched The Batman yesterday. Okay, so yeah I'm aware of the "magic' in that island and that stuff.... but I know I missed a lot so i wanna see!

Loves Lost
Annie, I SWEAR to you. They are not going to run them out of order, because if ANY series needs to show its episodes in order, this one does. In fact, if they do go out of order, you can stop watching. But until then, hang with me.
First episode, which you already saw: is the plane crash.
Second episode (which you may've already seen) is dealing with the plane crash. That's on TONIGHT. 10 pm. ABC. Watch it anyway, even if you've seen it.
Every episode (up until the last three) after the first two deals with a specific character. The THIRD episode, which, YES, is being shown June 15 is Tabula Rasa, which deals with Kate.
The fourth episode, which they are submitting for Emmy contention (in addition to the Pilot episode) is the stunning, amazing Walkabout, where we're introduced to Locke and his issues. You cannot miss that. Most likely they'll be showing it on June 22, but my TV GUIDE thing doesn't go that far ahead. But I'll keep you posted.
--Miche, who loves loves loves Lost
And Gidge, I don't understand people who don't like this show, but it is one that you ABSOLUTELY MUST SEE from the first episode, and not miss any (even moreso than 24).

An update of LOST episode ONE
NO, Annie, you can watch. Just start watching from tonight.
And yes, the man in the wheelchair is Locke, and his episode is the fourth one.
In the FIRST episode, it's so cool, I was watching it again, cause I have one of the Emmy screeners. Here's a quick synopsis to catch you up.
It opens on a shot of an EYE. Open. Blinking. Pull back to see our Dr. (Matthew Fox) lying down in the jungle, bleeding, clothes torn. He gets up, starts running. To what? It's not clear.
Soon though, you hear sounds. Sort of muffled. They become slowly clearer. Screams and cries, and fuselage breaking off. He is now on the beach, and people are running everywhere, but they're all blurry. From the smoke.
(Having watched the season, I know who they are, so they now take on a new resonance, but back then, they were just random people, as they are to him.)
He's running toward something. A man. A man with a part of metal fuselage sticking out of his stomach. He kicks into doctor mode, and does what he has to help him. Another man is caught under a propeller, still turning. He enlists some others (Locke included) to help lift the blade, so he can pull the man out. He ties something around the guy's leg to staunch the bleeding.
A woman cries loudly on the beach. It's Claire. She thinks she's going into labor. He checks her out, and tells her not to worry, but to rest herself. He pulls Hurley over, asks him to take care of her. He does.
Somewhere in here you see Boone and his sister fighting too, over sunscreen. She doesn't want to eat the candy he brings her. She's going to wait until they are rescued.
Jack (the doctor) goes back to check on the guy with the fuselage. He finds the woman he was sitting next to on the plane. He flashes back to talking to her on the plane. A man (Charlie) runs past to get to the bathroom. Three airline people run after him, banging on the door for him to come out.
The plane encounters turbulence. The black woman says she hates flying. How her husband tells her not to worry. Jack, sitting across the aisle, says I'm sure your husband will calm you down. She says, once he gets back from the bathroom. He never does get back. The plane starts rocking violently. Oxygen masks come down.
Back to the beach. He's now giving the woman mouth to mouth. She finally comes to.
The plane's wing behind them starts becoming unsteady. Jack runs to get Claire and Hurley out of the way. The three of them run as fast as they can. The wing falls and explodes behind them, as they hit the sand.
Jack tells Hurley to get Claire out of the way, and keep her calm. Hurley brings her some food trays he found in the cabin.
Jack looks at the dead bodies in the cabin, arms hanging down. He looks about to throw up. Boone looks at it all too. Jack finds a sewing kit on one of the dead bodies. Puts it in his pocket. Finds the extra bottle of alcohol the flight attendant had given him, also in his pocket.
Jack gets away to a nearby tree. Takes off his bloody shirt. A large gash crosses his back. He's about to start trying to sew it up himself. A rustle in the trees. A woman appears. It's Kate. He asks her if she's ever sewn anything. She says she sewed her drapes. He hands her the thread and asks her to sew. She says, it's not the same thing, drapes are with a machine. He says, it is the same thing, and I'd do it myself if I could. She's reluctant, but she does it.
Locke is sitting on the beach, staring at the waves. Sawyer is walking around. Sayeed starts a fire, and gets Charlie to help him. "So the rescue people can see it on the beach."
As everyone is standing there, a noise is heard. A big noise. No one's sure what it is, but it sounds like a monster.
Despite that, Jack decides that he needs to go try to find the cockpit that Kate saw land in the jungle. He wants to find the transciever, to relay a message. Kate says, I'm going with you (big tall strong dude that I just saw half-naked. OK, she doesn't say that... ). And for reasons that we learn later, Charlie is suddenly invested in going too.
The three of them head out. Kate thinks Charlie looks familiar. But can't place him. He starts singing a rock song. "Driveshaft? You heard of them?" Kate says yes, and Charlie tells her he's in Driveshaft. Jack's never heard of them, and has more pressing things on his mind.
They find the cockpit, which is parked at an angle, they have to struggle to get into it, past the dead bodies. Struggle to get to the cabin. Another dead body falls out. Jack's first, then Kate, then Charlie. Jack and Kate get into the cabin. They don't really notice until later that Charlie has disappeared into the restroom.
When Jack and Kate are in the cockpit, they find the pilot, very bloody, very battered, but still alive. Jack gives him water. He tells them how there was a storm, and the plane veered off course. By about 1000 miles. The rescue party that they radioed for is looking "in the wrong place." He helps them find the transceiver.
Jack tells him there are about 48 survivors. Suddenly, they hear a noise outside the cabin. Shaking the cabin. Jack and Kate duck down. The pilot for reasons completely inexplicable, other than to be a big macho he-man (or maybe a death wish to be the first casualty of the season), he sticks his head out of the cockpit window. CHOMP. Blood spatters all over the windshield.
(Note to castaways: don't go outside if you hear scary monster noises, kay?)
Jack and Kate are freaked. They grab Charlie. The monster has righted the plane, so they can now run the heck out of there quickly. And they run! Through the jungle, where it's now raining. First Kate, then Jack, then Charlie. Charlie gets tangled up in plant vines, and can't run. He calls out. Jack goes back to save him. Kate keeps running.
Kate finds a tree that looks safe. She hides within. Cries. Calls out for Jack. No answer.
When the rain stops, she ventures out. Trips over Charlie. He says he doesn't know where Jack is, but Jack came back to help him. Bitches about "why didn't you cry out for me? My name's Charlie, you know?" (She's on top of him while he's saying this. Which is also funny cause they are boyfriend and girlfriend in real life now...)
They both go to look for Jack. He finally pops out of his own big tree hiding place. They all run like hell back to the beach.
END.

I've only seen a few minutes, but it looks really good. I'm bad at keeping up with shows and watching on a week-by-week basis. But as my favorite comedian, Dane Cook, says, "Great show to eat ice cream to and look at the person you're with every commercial break and say 'Wow, cool, what the fuck is going on?'"

Hahaha, I agree!!!! If you're alone, you call someone up and say "oh my god, did you see that? what the hell?"
I have sad news..... i waited up for it and just couldn't hang..... I guess the 2 hours of sleep i got the night before caught up with me. I kept waking up to check on it every now and then.... but even though there was like a party right outside my door, i just couldn't stay up!!!! sad.

Thanks, Annie. It was pretty fresh in my mind because I just rewatched the screener a couple days ago. Yeah, it literally just grabs you from the first frame. I didn't want to like it, and I can't stop raving about it. Such stunning photography too.*Annie* wrote:AWESOME!!!!! I read that whole thing with my mouth wide open!!!!! Hope you liked the second ep!
Oh, oops. I just noticed YOU didn't WATCH the second ep! After all that! You have no VCR?
Well, I actually DIDN'T rewatch last night's episode, cause I was busy catching up on taping last season's Deadwood, so I don't remember exactly what happened.
I do know basically that they get back to the beach, and you meet other people, and everyone starts to settle in to their new situation.
Here's the descrip from http://www.epguides.com (which is great for describing episodes of shows).
<<Stripped of everything, the 48 survivors scavenge what they can from the plane for their survival. Some panic. Some pin their hopes on rescue. A few find inner strength they never knew they had. The band of friends, family, enemies and strangers must work together against the cruel weather and harsh terrain. But the intense howls of the mysterious creatures stalking the jungle fill them all with fear. Fortunately, thanks to the calm leadership of quick-thinking Jack and level-headed Kate, they have hope. But even heroes have secrets, as the survivors will come to learn.>>
