Probably started sucking big time around then, 2001... a few years before another radio station would quietly hit the LA radio waves and forever CHANGE THE WAY WE LISTEN TO MUSIC

bilzamo, I agree AND concur. But I dare say that the station went down a bit before that. Applogies to the other Spy.

they have etched out an identity with Korn and System of a Down, but just not stuff i can handle all the time. Also with Blink-182 type bands which i also got bored of quick. i also got really bored of the Grunge explosion.. it was good stuff but i thought they kinda "went" with it a bit too much...

Again, I must agree, although I do believe that segments of the "grunge: movement had their relevance.

yeah, grunge touched something in people... probably the rawness, it was like dreary punk...

i saw it as bringing in the disaffected heavy metal people, since all the heavy metal bands and stations were going out of business/style, they needed somewhere to go and Kroq was playing less "tough" stuff. that kinda ushered out the last of the NEw Wave leftover/halfbreeds (like WHeezer, who i love) and ushered in the harder edge we hear now.

For myself, I can only say that the music spoke to me in a way that none had in a very long time. Alice in Chains in particular.

Alice and her Chains put out some good records..Sap was uncharacteristic of the band's sound, and rather good.

Grunge saved us from Hair Bands & bad metal. Grunge also really allowed for Indie music to become acsessable. People started making music because they liked music, not to be a rock star. Grunge let people who wore glasses or weren't attractive make it in music; you didn't have to be Motley Crue or Poison to get played

Indie is the Grunge of the 2000's and The Strokes are the Nirvana of Indie, whether that means "great they opened doors" or "fuck, they sold us out."
