The set up...after Kurt's death a rock pub interviewed Courtney...and during that interview...Frances Bean was playing with some CD jewel cases and picked out a Nirvana CD..and said "Daddy"! Later in that interview..it was mentioned that the TV was on in the background..and a Lemonheads vid was on...when Frances Bean saw Evan Dando..she exclaimed..."Daddy"! I was struck again..how very sad Kurt's death was..and it's far-reaching impact....I wrote a poem to express said sadness at the time...won't bore you all with its entirety..but here is the last stanza

Reluctant voice of a generation...silenced
Tortured no more
A child is left behind
To worship Daddy-TV...

I was driving through New Mexico and was only getting partial radio signals and all i heard was, "Tribute for Kurt Cobain" then static. The biggest WTF!?! moment of my life. It took another 8 hours for me to find out what happened.

They were the only band I cared about and really listened to for about a 2 year period in junior high. I didn't know today was the day. Hm...doesn't seem like 12 yrs at all. That's half my life.

I reiterate Robert's statements. I can only hope Kurt was looking down during Courtney Love's drunken, drug-induced antics at Pam Anderson's Comedy Central roast and laughed his ass off.

Kurt Cobain and Nirvana's legacy live on through practically all rock music that happened after them, and what better way to celebrate that influence then with a collectible action figure in his likeness? NECA (National Entertainment Collectibles Association) has announced the release of a Kurt Cobain action figure, the first of its kind, to be in stores by late June. The statue is a replica of Cobain from the "Smells Like Teen Spirit" video, complete with the blue Mustang guitar and his brown and green t-shirt. NECA have made many figures for movies like The Crow, Alein Vs. Predator, Freddy Vs. Jason, and Sin City. Now we can only keep our fingers crossed for a figure of Dave Grohl frocked in his Sunday finest from the "In Bloom" video.

In other spinning-in-his-grave news, Elevation Partners, an equity group that includes U2's Bono, may become part owners of Nirvana's back catalog. The group is one of many who have been pursuing the deal after Courtney Love announced that she would be selling a 25 percent stake in the catalog, which includes songs like "Smells Like Teen Spirit." http://www.necaonline.com

I remember when Nirvana came to Salt Lake City like only a few months before he killed himself. It was in December, and we couldn't go cuz my baby was only like a month old. We went to this hotel in Ogden to get family portraits done and the band was staying at the same hotal. Their tour bus was out front. When we were walking by one of the rooms, I saw Kim Deal from The Breeders in one of the rooms. So I knocked on the door. She came to the door and wouldn't open it, so I said, hey, aren't you Kim Deal?? She said yes through the door. I said, I'm a huge fan of The Breeders and would love to get your autograph if I could. She said Fuck You and kicked the door. Told me to go away. So, I says, fine, then I most assuredly won't support you or your band again and refuse to buy your shit anymore, Breeders OR Pixies! And so I left. I found out what room that Kurt was in, but he wouldn't answer the door either. So, I quit listening to them.

No telling! All I know is that she was a bitch! And I still, to this deal, refuse to buy anything that is related to The Pixies, Breeders, or Nirvana. Sucks actually, cuz I liked The Pixies! Wave of Mutilation is a classic! But I DO however listen to Frank Black. I got to meet him in SLC at a music store. He was way cool! Super nice dude! I have a poster sized pic of him, me, and my ex-hubby.

Not your fault! No need to be sorry! I just can't stand the bitch. That REALLY turned me off. I mean, honestly, you should treat the ones that put food on your table and clothes on your back with a little respect. I mean we were even all dressed up so she can't even use the scared excuse. Not my fault she had her stupid assed curtains open! I mean they were all getting dressed and shit. I did see her boobies though! LOL! Too bad I didn't have a camera on me, I SOOO would have put that out for everyone to see after that response!

Don't get me wrong, I still love the music, I just won't purchase it.

Frank played a few songs acoustic in the record shop we saw him in. It was mad too! Like HUNDRED of people there. I miss SLC. That place had a very good scene. I was surprised! I met all kinds of people there. I won backstage passes to STP and met Scott Weiland. He was higher than shit, but still pretty cool. I met the Butthole Surfers that same night. It was wild! I got to meet Dink, which, by the way, were AWESOME dudes! I got to meet them twice there and they actually remembered me from the time before. CRAZY! I met Midnight Oil...which was an awesome story, cuz Peter Garret put his HUGE hand acrossed my 8 month preggers belly and says "When's the blessed day?" I told him when I was due. He bowed his head, all the while his HUGE hand on my belly, said a prayer, and said "Good luck to you" and signed my CD and off I went! WOW! Now THAT was an awesome dude! I met Marilyn Manson, the whole band. I was at the show that made them infamous! SLC, tore up the Book of Mormon with Trent Reznor and Jim Rose. I got to meet Beck and The Reverend Horton Heat and Lords of Acid, and many many more! SLC was an awesome assignment. I loved it!

Wow, those are some great stories!! Love the Peter Garret encounter! I've been to lots of shows but haven't met many performers. For someone who grew up in LA I'm incredibly poorly connected... lol

I got to see STP on what I think may have been their last tour before breaking up. Scott seemed sober, not that I'd really know. I was just happy to see them, I thought he would die before I got a chance to.

Believe me....he was super nice when I met him. I was about 6 or so months preggers and he signed the back of my maternity shirt I was wearing. I still have it, it's hanging in my closet.

I've just been incredibly lucky! I don't know how it happens, it just does! I mean, for example, I have Danny Elfman's wife beater from the Dead Man's Party tour that he gave me during the show. It was hilarious cuz all these girls were pulling on the shirt and he pulled it back and said "NO, this is for her!" WIERD! He gave it to me during "Little Girls". LMAO...very appropriate as i was only like 12 or 13. I had thrown a purple cow stuffed animal on stage with a note attached that said, "Please autograph"...when they came back on an encore, he gave it back to me...SIGNED! Then I threw it back for him to keep and the second encore is when he gave me the shirt. I have MANY stories! LOL...I have always thought it to be very strange that no matter what show I have been to, I have met at least one of the members if not the whole band. My best friend wants me to go with her to see ICP, for luck! LMAO...I don't much care for ICP, and that is a much bigger band with much less of a fan relationship than the bands I like. If the band doesn't appreciate their fans, as you can tell, I don't support them. But that's just me!

LOL...yea, it will be down in Santa Ana sometime later this year. I will go with her, but I make no promises. As for the most part, I never intended on meeting the people I have met. It just kinda happened! I always have been in just the right spot at just the right time!

I remember when I FINALLY got to see DI live! It was late 1991....I saw Casey acrossed the room and my stomach fell out of my body! LOL! So, I went up to him and he signed my CD, the next thing I know, when they went on stage, he said I could sit on the stage behind him next to the drums the whole show! Then I got to go to the hotel afterwards.

That was a dream come true!
