I figured out my problem with Indie

Below is Indie's yes.com top 100

I like bands that have female singers, Indie only has 1 female fronted band that I can tell in the top 20 (Yeah Yeah Yeahs). Then they have The Dresden Dolls @ 23 & Morningwood at 26 (Morningwood is horrible by the way, all they have going for them is a catchy name) Then they have another female fronted band at #29 The Sounds, then at #30, Death Cab for Cutie. They do have 4 in a row from 39 to 43. Then at 46 they have Ladytron which should be higher. And don't go and say there aren't any good female fronted bands or singers out there. That's not true.

don't forget to cruise over tohttp://www.teganandsara.com/index.php

Yeah, thanks Gidge. Tom hadn't mentioned Tegan & Sara for at least a month.
But I agree with him. Indie needs to play more chick artists. They play at least 3 times as many guys or guy-fronted bands. At home, I probably listen to male & female artists about even. Of course, aside from a few exceptions, the guy bands rock harder than the chick bands. I like to hear the ladies sing purty.

There's so many and the order of preference changes constantly so I'll just list them alphabetically - Alison Krauss, Amy Lee (Evanescence), Billie Holiday, Bonnie Raitt, Casandra Wilson, Chrissie Hynde, Debbie Harry, Ella Fitzgerald, Grace Slick, Janis Ian, Jenny Lewis (Rilo Kiley), Kimberlina (Kimberly Trip), Loreena McKennitt, Lucy Kaplansky, Patsy Cline, Siouxsie Sioux, Stevie Nicks & Teresa James + a brand new favorite from Myspace, Carolyn Currie. I know, lotsa blues & folk but like I said - I like the ladies to sing purty to me.

Some people hate the movie....I love it.....it's a MOVIE....not a documentary....and I think that Gary Oldman did a great job...

Ever read the book, And I Don't Want to Live this Life, by Nancy Spungons's mother...Debbie? It was a wonderful glimpse into the man that lived behind the Sid mask.....

I always liked his(Sid) version of "my way"....seems like he personified
the whole punk thing to me....more so than say...oh god...dare I say
it....I haven't spewed my beliefs on this since the old JJB blog days
....than say....let's just say "another sex pistol" who sells Toyotas
.....AND has an EXCELLANT! radio show.....anyway enough blowing
up icons today.

I think that Sid is what we all think of...first off...out of the gate...when thinking of punk...he was and is the proto type for all that has come since...IMHO....no slight to the radeeeio dj in question....

That's funny!.....that's why the gods of punk ordained an early demise for
Sid...and I dont mean to be disrespectful of Mr. Jones(I've learned alot
from him and his learned life)in the end he will leave a more valuable
legacy than Sid...for sure....but still I remember the days of youth when
death could not be proud....there was nothing we were afraid of....
now We(I at least)gotta give up drugs, breaking the law, generally being
insane(oh the fun!)....(oh the pain though too)what am I trying to say
(shloemoe stutters like a spaz and says)"why dont ya all fade away,
and dont try to dig what we all say"

...oh god have ya seen the time life info-mercials with rodger daltry
selling cd's?

Hope I die before I get old....I can't say that anymore........

Etta's playing the Doheny Blues festival this year - May 20, and BB King is the headliner on the 21'st. That's my neck of the woods - a $10 cab ride!
