I have seen the Northen Lights when I was in MN, and it is very impressive. I was at our hunting cabin in the middle of no where, and got up to take a piss (no plumbing at the shack) and there it was! I was blown away. Really one of the coolest things I have seen.

You can see 'em in Scotland too but the atmos has to be just right and you have to be fairly far North usually. Skye or somewhere. I've never seen a proper display but once, a few flickers around Edinburgh.

Nice pics of Scottish show here.

Dear friends

It was beastly hot for the UK. but has cooled now and thank God for that because this was the week I moved out of an attic room over the road.

Monday and Tuesday broke records for temperatures across Britain. Piddling scores compared with yours but still very difficult to get anything done.

I know you might think I have an axe to grind (scrape) but I rather think that these temperatures are down to Global warming -sigh...

35 c or 95 was the topper.

Here in Galloway we had 30

UK. Forecast:

"The hot weather is expected to continue with no real sign of an end at the moment. There will be some thundery activity during the next 48 hours, primarily in eastern and north eastern areas, but beyond that soon high pressure is set to build again. The first half of next week may well bring exceptionally hot weather back across the UK with temperatures again rising up to 35C or even possibly higher. Computer models are now suggesting the hot weather may continue right through next week. If current patterns continue this summer is likely to end up as one of the three hottest on record, with a chance that it will beat the current benchmark which is 1976."

'76 was the last really hot one I remember.

That forecast applies to the South generally, where I live we tend to get the weather from Northern Ireland blowing across the sea. Living by the coast things things are a little less hot. Snow is a rarity here, 20 miles away it is different but Wigtown Bay is sheltered. We had a 1 night blizzard in March but by the end of the day the snow was pretty much away.

<a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d82/c ... P_2017.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting"></a>

20 miles away

I only hope that you are all keeping cool.

Cheerio.

Weather is cyclical and right now we are in the higher heat cycle. The only unfortunate part about this is that this cycle will last quite some time. At least, this is my beliefs anyway. For example, we are in a Geological Ice Age right now and we are just now finally coming out of it. This planet is supposed to be warmer than it is right now. Most of it being like a tropical or rain forest type of flora and fauna. But again, I'm a bit of a strange one and have very different ideas on what is going on with the planet. I fully believe that this is earth's cycle and nothing will stop it. Can we improve the environment, yes, we sure can, but can we stop global warming, I don't believe that we can. I know you schloe will probably tear this post to threads and pieces, but, maybe I'm just pessimist, which wouldn't surprise me either. LOL

Ah that will freshen it up. So good to wake up on Wednesday after those temperatures to rain.

I like that word "sundowner" and my other half just found a box of Budweiser in a forgotten place. We've stashed as much of it as poss in the fridge.

"Sundowners" are what the exploitative Imperial Brits used to have on their verandahs in Colonial India and such like places

Paul Cook transcriptions of Jonesy's Jukebox show are now available at

http://www.sex-pistols.net

Mine is a little scrappy as this was a rush job. Idiot me thought his birthday was August 20th duh...

So I was doing it through the night and it shows in places. :: two colons etc.

I thought the Ice Age ended about 10,000 years ago.

Though pockets existed afterwards. The late Glacial they call it. Pretty interesting methinks cos the Ice age and Glaciers scoured the earth so thoroughly that they "pretty much" obliterated any evidence of strange ape-like beings who roved the planet.

But here's something else that is interesting.

Yes, the last ice age ended 10,000 years ago, but for the planet to get to the correct temperatures, it takes about 12,000 years, so, therefore, we are still in, although at the very end of, an ice age. We have about 2,000 years for the temperatures to balance out to what they are supposed to be. Then we will have a period of time that we will have the temps we are supposed to be and then we will go into another ice age somewhere between 50,000 and 100,000 years from the end of the last ice age. Look at the evidence of what type of flora the earth was covered with before that last ice age. That should give you a really good indication of how the earth is supposed to be. Science also found that the last ice age was triggered by, you guessed it, greenhouse gasses and methane!!!! I don't believe that they had cars, electricity, CFC's, etc... back then and the amounts that are thought to have began the last ice age are what we expect to start another one. So, basically, that tells me, that greenhouse gasses are NOT caused by humans alone and our pollution, it is also naturally occuring. That is what I mean by cyclical! We can not stop what nature has already intended to happen.

By the way Schloe...I was never offended! I dunno why you thought I was. I'm okay with you stating your points as long as I can state mine and vice versa. I like you because I can state my point and then you can state your's and this cycle can continue until we both just agree to disagree....LOL  Please don't take what I say as a sign of anger, it's not. This is where science and beliefs have led me and my thoughts. Yes, I have scientic evidence to support my claims. This isn't just something that I pulled out of my ass.

Here are a few place if you want to have a read about science!

This weekend was very strange, indeed weather wise.

Friday, it was cool at my house, went to Huntington beach, friday night, and it was a bit warmer, but not unbearable. I actually put on a long sleeve shirt over my tank top, when I was standing outside at 2 am...

Saturday, no breeze in San Clemente - picked up some friends in westminster, where it was 98, and drove to Corona to see some bands. Corona was 110, and at about 7 pm after some very impressive lightning strikes, there was a downpour, which dropped the temp to the mid-eighties. The rain stopped, and the temp went right back up... after dark... The club's airconditioning was undersized for those conditions, so there was one little space (probably 3 ft by 6 ft) that the ac actually cooled the air. That's where I spent most of my time. Ice water was $3

Sunday, again no breeze in San Clemente, it was 84 when I left the house at 6 to go to Hollywood. 100 degrees in Hollywood, but the club was a little bit cooler. They gave out free ice water, which was great. Got back in my car at 12:30, and it was 80 degrees, which felt really great with the windows down, driving down the freeway...

Today, again with the no breeze, but it is a little bit cooler... Thank God for the swimming pool!
...and then at the end of the letter I like to write "P.S. - this is what part of the alphabet would look like if Q and R were eliminated.-- Mitch Hedberg

Looks like UK. temps are set to soar again but it's that humidity that is the decisive thing isn't it? I think the heat fried the scanner. The glass fell out. Clunk. Think the cheapo glue dried out. The printer was eating paper.

The papers here were full of headlines like:

"Pheww what a scorcher."

So as soon as the sun goes down around 8.00 pm PST - lets ALL have a virtual beach party and some fun!

I might be late...4.00 am. GMT. so start without me.

Bring records, cds, dvds, drink, booze and good things. Band anecdotes, gig anecdotes, Jones anecdotes.

Here's some good Oi Polloi tales:

"What is the funniest thing that has happened to you whilst touring?"

http://www.punkoiuk.co.uk/interviews/oipolloi.htm

Huntington beach? So is that a good venue?

Actually if it's a virtual knees up - it doesn't really matter where it is I suppose.

Cheerio.

Yeah, really. For me (Fullerton), it was hot as Hell all weekend long. Then I wake up Sunday and noticed my car is streaked. Apparently it rained in the morning. WTF? I think Al Gore's on to something.

Haha. You suck, Rott! We're roasting over here in Cali-for-ni-a. And still have drizzle and thunder to boost. But I'll have my vengeance when it's winter and you're freezing your nuts off in an igloo. Bwahaha. Where in Canada do you live again?
