Founder of MySpace sues News corp.

Claims anti-competitive behaviour

By Nick Farrell: Wednesday 08 November 2006, 09:07
THE BLOKE who helped launch MySpace in 2003, but left to form another company, is suing MySpace's new owner News Corp.

Brad Greenspan says that Rupert Murdoch's outfit has broken antitrust laws by censoring competitor services.

He said that MySpace blocks users from mentioning Stickam.com and Vidilife.com in their profiles. Greenspan's new company, LiveUniverse, owns Stickam.com and Vidilife.com.

If a punter tries to mention them in their bogs, they are replaced with a line of dots, he said.

MySpace used to impose the same "censorship" on other video sharing sites such as YouTube and Revver, but stopped this after a user revolt, Greenspan claimed.

The less popular Vidilife.com and Stickam.com censorship remains, Greenspan says. However a spokesMurdoch said that vidilife.com was blocked because it published copyright-infringing content.
