New Debate - Your position on Iraq

Post by Glenn »

I support the war but I dont support the troops.

I think that we are doing a great service by bringing freedom & stability in Iraq but I think the troops are money whores who benefit by sucking the government dry with all these gov money hand outs like armor, wages & health etc.

What say you?

I don't support the war, but I support the troops that are their. I don't want anything bad to happen to them. I wish they were never there. I don't think Iraq was or is a threat to us. Now we have made Iran the super-power of the Middle East. I think if the government knew that going in, they wouldn't have went.

I agree with Tom's remarks completely. My cousin's oldest son was over there & I just thank God he made it home safe. We never should have gone to Iraq but now that we are there, we have to do whatever it takes to protect our troops.

(oh god here comes shloemoe) I agree with Glenn...
comedy is probably the best way to get real perspective
on dark things...war? oooogh good god ya'll what it is
good for?

but...

temporal entities(creatures of flesh and blood)
will always compete for the resources they
need...add opposing ideaologies to the mix
and?.....It's still not too late to make Shloemoe
your Grand Citizen...I will put an end to wars
and usher in a thousand years of peace
...uh I mean peace :D

Since we toppled Sadaam's regime(which I still applaud)
we have spent billions on death...we should have been
helping them with building their infrustructure instead...
a healthy educated arab is a friendly arab?

...hm...maybe ol shloe will put on his thinking cap
(gluck, gluck, gluck)and get back at ya's on this

The Romans are gone. I rest my case.

o.k due to your great arguements and fear of deportation I now support "some troops".

101 st Airborne Division only.

The rest of them I dont.

Nicely put. I actually saw some photos of a co-worker's son, stationed in Iraq at the time. I was really relieved to hear that he was back here in Cali training other soldiers. I can't even imagine how difficult it must be for them, or their family and friends, to be over there.

I didn't support going into Iraq in the first place...Saddam had NOTHING to do with what happened on American soil September 11. I would gladly pay more taxes to see Osama Bin Laden's head on a pike.

Having a son who is "draft" age is also a consideration. Thankfully, he's not interested in serving his country.

I also do not believe that the United States should be the world police nor do I believe we should be involved in what is basically a civil war. The American government couldn't have given two shits for the conflict over in Ireland (which is similiar to the whole Shite/Sunni crap) so I ask myself....why should we be so worried if two Islamic factions take each other out? The answer is we shouldn't.

my reasons for supporting the US involment that toppled
ol Sadaam are purley selfish...the mother fucker was evil!!!
the reason WWII happend is cause everybody didn't want to
get involved in another European conflict..Hitler took advanage
of that..and look what happended....yea...we need to change our
approach to Iraq!....If those MoFO's dont want a nice country...
fuck em...but that's not really what's going on...religious fanatics
(and history has shown what a danger they are)..(protestant/Catholic
shite/sunni..fuck em!)have swooped on the oppourtunity to punish us...This problem is not gonna go away now...some kind of pull-out
with limited military supportis gonna be needed...dont ya wish it
would all go away?...Im conflicted...There will be more sacrifice
demanded....

We didn't go into Iraq due to 9-11! It was purely conincidental. The reasons for going into Iraq are the same reasons we did it in 1991. The difference is we are trying to finish what was started back then. Obviously I can't really tell you the whole thing, but, all I can say is, you don't have to support us going into Iraq, you don't even have to support the troops either, but it would be nice if at least the troops were supported. I personnally don't care if anyone supports the war or not. But what I do have a problem with is when I have been spat on, when I have been called a murderer to my face, when I have been verbally abused all because I wear a professional military uniform. I made $39,000 last year and I have been in for 15 years now. I'm okay with that! I chose to come in the military. I chose to follow the orders of those appointed over me.

I, Jocelin, do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same, and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice, so help me Goddess

I understand what you are saying Nursie...and you and I have had this discussion before.....;)

What really chaps my hide is that once we are done, we, the American people, will pay to rebuild that hell whole....let 'em rebuild theirselves....the factions repeatedly state they don't need us there....so fine...we pull out and let them take care of themselves for awhile....

And I understand completely Gidge! I'm not always happy with the decisions either, but I will abide by them even if I don't care for them. I won't compromise my integrity or my morals for it though. That is where I draw a line. I have never had to do that and will continue to not do that. I wish all of my friends were home and out of Iraq and Afghanistan too. But our job is to be there....for now. I wish I wasn't here in Korea away from my family with a foolish North Korean midget causing problems all the time. If someone would just give that guy a taste of his own medicine!!!

I think the name of the game is "ISOLATION"

- plays Joy Division song of the same name -

I just watched a DVD series I got for Christmas called WWI in colour. It was such a great series made in the U.K I think.

You think this war sucks. (IRAQ)

World war one was

10 Million Dead soldiers (from all sides)
20 Million wounded/maimed or irreversably shell shocked.

Such a sad war sparked off by 1 assasins bullet.

They where in the slaughter fields.

I forget the exact numbers but single battles might loose 60,000 men in one single day.

The trench warfare was horrorfying. Men where ordered to advance & march into machine gum fire and where just slaugheted. If you didn't advance when ordered (many froozen from shellshock) you where shot by your own officers.

Quite nasty.

Then the American came just in time to finish the war.

Jolly good show - now for a spot of tea,

Isolation is BAD! Capital B. Capital A. Capital D.

The U.S.A relyes equally on the corporation of it's international allies for it's own security.

Domination is the new name of the game.

Teddy Rosevelt said it best...
"walk softly...and carry a big stick"

Isolationism got us into WWII....we should have
stepped in right when Herr Hitler started
breaking the treaty of Versailles....He almost
got Great Brittan...Good thing they had Churchill
and the RAF...."Never has so much been owed to
so few by so many"...

To The RAF...

Draft is bad yes sir ree.

I think it is highly unlikely though.

It is more likely they would pull out of Iraq than escalate to the point that they need to draft.

I also don't believe in sending our men and women to fight in what is basically a civil war...when they start blowing up the "peace" keepers...it's time to split....post haste....

I don't want another American to die for a bunch of dirty, infighting jackasses that have no respect for human life....

I think we should pull out...but as you ladies know that's
what all men say.....no seriously...we should get out of there.
The benifit per unit cost is WAY too high....we'll have to go back
someday(remember that's where most of the worlds oil comes from)
....but fer now? let the waring factions go at it...besides we all
know that our next great enemy is gonna be China..
