A break from the salesmen.....please!!!!

Post by The Rizen shloemoe »

According to the Catholic Encyclopedia, the saint whose
feast was celebrated on the day now known as St. Valentine's
Day was possibly one of three martyred men named Valentinus
who lived in the late third century, during the reign of Emperor
Claudius II (died 270):

a priest in Rome
a bishop of Interamna (modern Terni)
a martyr in the Roman province of Africa.

Really nobody knows anything about a guy named Valentine!
...but what we do know is crap like this sells a LOT of greeting
cards and chocolate...If your in a good relationship...or otherwise
in love...Shloemoe is SO happy for you....I hope you get a Hallmark
paper cut or choke on a walnut!!! :D

...I dunno were I was gonna go with this...except to say:

Fuck Valentines Day!!!!

...now where did I put my vasoline?
Having abandoned my search for truth,
I am now looking for a good fantasy.

The exchange of cards at Valentines day originates in Victorian times. Before that - well where I grew up - you went Valentining leaving gifts on front doorsteps after knocking on the back door. These gifts were not for lovers neither. Usually consisted of token gifts like pens, oranges that sort of stuff. The custom of Valentining seems to have died a death and within the last 30 years I'd say...

American Greetings is better than Hallmark 100%.

I've been selling Valtentines Day cards to stores since Jan jeez.

Thank god it is over.

Next comes Easter in April & Mother's Day in the merry month of May.
