This is my reasoning:
1) Blame it on the day job...I'm an Archivist and its my job to revive old and forgotten things, and
2) Blame it on the night job...damn kids are out partying instead of being in here (the library) and asking me stupid question such as "where's the bathroom" or "where's the water fountain"

Hahahah, that makes a lot of sense...

Partying..... sounds like a Tuesday night plan... I should really take a nap first.

I thought you had chicharones and a raspado yesterday?!?!

Posted: Wed Jun 08, 2005 7:13 pm

yeah, the chicharones are flour chips. From the buy on a bike... i don't eat meat, so i did not mean pork.

Ohhh, okay. I thought all chicharrones were pork rinds. That didn't seem very Annie-like to be chowing down on pig intestines. Now I understand! I like the lil ice cream guy that swings by my brother's place in the summer.

hahha, yeah.... I like that guy too, he has the mexican fruit popsicles. This is how you know who it is and what they're selling: You hear a bell, it's the guy pushing his little ice cream cart. You hear a horn, like honking, you have to look outside your window and look at his cart. they will always have chicharrones, but if you see a blue bag, he's also selling shaved ice. if you see a big cooler then he's selling corn, except if you're in L.A., then they will have them in a tall metal pot and it's probably a woman. Then there's the regular ice-cream truck playing "pop goes the weasel" and another favorite "the ding ding man" or "soft server" all you hear is the "ding" every other minute and you know he will make you anything you want form a 3 scoop ice cream, to a banana split (he has all the flavors)... even sundaes and hot cheesy nachos!!!!!!

Gosh....I miss that...Since Claremont doesn't allow minorities, that kind of activity doesn't happen here...
But I remember it from my childhood. My ice cream lady's name was Carmen and she would let us have credit if she knew our parents....good times I tell you...good times...

Awesome! My old chicharon dealer used to call me "my friend" but it sounded more like "mai frrend"

I love the coconut/water one! Or the tamarindo!

Wow, thanks for the low down. Why the hell would you need someone driving by to sell you corn? Can't you just wait to go to the market? Like who gets a corn craving so bad that they just have to stop some lady with a metal pot and buy some corn? And wow, I could go for some hot cheesy nachos right now! I don't think there's anyone swinging by at 2 am though. I'll keep my ears open, anyway.

My street gets at least 1 of each of those vendors a day.... usually more than one.

KEVIN: You have not lived until you have one of these corns. Granted I don't eat them anymore, but they are tempting. So they're cooked, splashed with lemon juice, rubbed with butter, spread some mayo, cover it with Mexican clumbled cheese and sprinkle some powder chile on it.... heaven! And yes, my sister gets cravings for these ALL the time and will come over to find some, if they're not around, she will drive around looking for one!

Oh, don't get me wrong. I have made tamales before. I just can't get the whole tucking the end thing in right, so, I cheat and tie 'em with string. White girls can't make tamales!

I can come and booze and spa it up. As long as there is a bed/couch/floor for me to sleep in/on so I don't have to drive in a boozed/spaed up condition....

Hey, I have been making tamales since I was 7 and I CAN'T WRAP them either. the string works fine, and so does foil paper!

I have a spare bedroom, 2 1/2 couches (the 1/2 being a love seat), and plenty of floor space and a big backyard for the ones that want to "rough it."
