Newport Indie Film Festival

Yesterday I caught a few flicks for the Newport Beach film festival. Is at the Edwards cinema at Fashion Island.
"Handle with Care" was my fav...
Partly becasue my brother was the main actor, it was cool to see him on the big screen in a theatre very cool. He is very into his acting, which is cool.
They ran a total of six short films, was pretty cool. I think I may have found a new interest. I would definaltely go again. Maybe get involved in making movies, seems like fun. A lot of work goes into it 9 months sometines to make a 20 minute flick that may never see the light of day.
OCC has 8 films entered in the festival. I would be interest to see them to. Maybe I can watch them on the web.
My question is...Why does every 2nd indie short film end with someone blowiing their head off?
I have 2 thoughts.
1. Ketchup makes good blood and is a cheap prop.
2. The movie makers are creative bi-polar peeps with suicidal idealology woven into the story.
