Yes Mr. Rot..I was once like you are now...chauvinistic,
and narrow minded in my musical tastes. I pray to the gods
of rock that they free you from your narrow mindedness so
you can be yet a bit more like Shloemoe The GREAT...that
is to say a music fan....

I know...I know...you can never be as great as the shloe
you say....but alas...faith in the Gods of Rock...keep up
the faith Mr Rotnman....keep up the faith.... :D

I liked, "Smell the glove."

I went to a heavy metal fest Shloe - I didn't mind it.

So what do you reckon on this line-up?

Dio was there. Never heard of that lot at the time
Whitesnake - guilty of love. Only knew them because of the single.
Twisted sister - not so twisted I thought pulled in a fair bit of publicity.
Diamondhead - what happened to them? Who were they even?
Meatloaf - well that was alright, 22 people on a stage all playing guitar.

Four helicopters appeared too and flew over the top of the Festival site and then Cozy Powell beat the hell out of his drums (1814 overture,)
fireworks in the drum kit. Bomm shallacka laacka boom!

ZZ Top played all the Eliminator stuff, none of the dirty tunes from Deguello :-(

What ever these purists say, I felt more comfortable at that gig than I would have had at a Kajagoogoo one or at the synth wailing of Erasure.

I saw Page once or at least people assured me it was Page, this bloke turned up in this marquee at this Festival in East Anglia and plugged his guitar in and played the most amazing stuff for half an hour one Sunday afternoon and then pissed off. I was very very stoned in those days.

Jimmy Page may well have worshipped Satan or at least The Great Beast 666 Crowley but the Satanism thing was just a silly pose at the end of the day I reckon. Especially with bods like Manson running with those ideas now and the way death metal seemed to overtake everything.

I must be old, there are a group from Dumfries called Turbyne and they make the most hideously appalling noise ever, their lead singer sort of grunts the lyrics in his throat like a deranged dog man type thing. The guitar work is all that bass lead choppy stuff and all in all, it's dischordant un melodious thrash. I must be old. They tell me it's very fashionable.

Smell the glove!

Ah twisted sister...Dee Snyder(lead singer)has a radio gig
on the east coast much as our Shire does here out west....
(We're not gonna take it....NO!...we aint gonna take it!)
love it!

At 44 my musical militancy is mostly spent...given a totally(?)
objective observer...like say an Eskimo(Innuit..ok) and ask
him tell the difference between The Sex Pistols and Twisted
Sister and he'd wanna get back to more pressing and germain
topics...like...would you care for more blubber?...or...would you
like to sleep with my wife?...he couldn't see no difference...

..ok there's logic in that example somewhere...

One bit of personal learnins I owe to the Sire 'o' Whilshire...
The Pontiff of Pop...is that rocks heritage is rich...diverse...
Big!
Oh and that I really dont like hearing a guy fart a lot...just me
I guess?...

Yer likes 'n' dislike should be more a basis than a certain catagory
is.

Wow...Cwa at a metal fest...woo'da Thunk it?

But Whitesnake?......UG!

Whitesnake headlined.

It was the Monsters of Rock at Castle Donington in 1983.

Are you sure there's any logic whatsoever present in your inuit observation?

Dee Snyder, that's right!

No .inf file on Diamondhead though?

Cheers Shloemoe.

Chicks love Whitesnake. I don't know if It's the hair or Coverdale's voice or what but they just do. When I used to sing karaoke all the time, some of my female friends would ask me to sing "Here I Go Again" or "Is This Love" often. I tried them once but not my thing.

I really like Dio, one of my favorite metal artists. Although Black Sabbath released more classic songs with Ozzy, I always preferred Ronnie James' stronger vocals over Ozzy's. "Neon Knight", Heaven & Hell", "Holy Diver", Rainbow in the Dark" - all Classic!

Never heard of Diamondhead either. I looked them up on Amazon.com & it said some of the members came from One-hit wonder group Sugarloaf. Remember "Green Eyed Lady"? No wonder no one remembers Diamondhead.

Twisted Sister was fun on the videos but they look like they would be all show & no substance. The music just wasn't too good.

Meatloaf -Metal? More like classic glam rock. Don't get me wrong, I like the Loaf OK but I don't know what he was doing on a metal show, even a metal-lite show.

I really like ZZTop too but you're right. They do too much of the MTV stuff & not enuff of the old texas blues nowadays.
<B>I got a girl, she lives on the hill.
She won't do it but her sister will,
When she boogie,
She do the tube snake boogie.
Well now boogie little baby,
Boogie woogie all night long.
