Been awfull quiet this week?...hm?

I seen a story that reminded me of an earlier
post....Who was it rotter?....I dunno?

Is this what it takes to start a good thread?

The highest common factor

Post by chriswasanon »

Oh God, it's not the "Isn't that right donkey," story again?

In maths the lowest common denominator of 2, 3. 4 and 6 is 12? Right?

Yet the highest common factor of 12 and 18 is 6. Which is lower I think.

So you are in fact wrong to be talking of lowest common denominators.

Don't worry I got those factoids out of a book and I'm not at all sure that I understand it.

What do you make of it? I get the impression that you get on well with numbers and math(s) and arithmetic.

yes...yes these things as they appear as ratios of real
numbers are as they are LCD's, LCM's...are effective
rules for adding or subtracting rational and irrational
numbers blah blah blah...etc,etc....

Im stretching this into a metaphor.....OH I see I said
"Highest" Common denominator in subject....hm?...
meant "lowest"...anyways what does a bored chap
have to do to get a good thread going?

...I mean after last weeks confesion from rotter that he's
gay... things have been a bit quiet....

Away from the numbers...

I knew that you were stretching it into a metaphor. I was just curious as to why this bit of lazy English journalese is now taken as the Gospel, when it makes no sense.

I mean I think it comes from a desire to call something "low," which Eric Partridge in his Dictionary of Slang was more than happy to use and I quite like.

For instance Partridge would say that the phrase "fuckpig" as an epithet was low.

I believe I read in another dictionary (not Partridge) that a "fuckpig" " - was an:

"extremely unpleasant person."

I found that hilarious. At 14 such things are very amusing when you should be learning your times tables - sigh.

When did Rotter say he was Gay, are you sure? Breathless mode /on or \off

Sorry Shloe I gave up cigarettes 5 weeks ago and all this weird annoying clever sod pedantry is my withdrawal in full flow. I really do by the way have problems with numbers! I know what an LCM is though and it's not the Lunar Command Module either.

Give this thread a shot of Xanax it will soon rally round.

God the Twilight Zone is available on DVDs now. I've been watching a few and I can't get over how strange Rod Serling's eyebrows look.

Cheers.

Here's what Amy Winehouse would do to this thread

Amy is in hiding with husband Blake Fielder-Civil and both sets of parents at a five-star, £250-a-night hotel after last week’s hospital drama, when she slipped into a coma following a three-day drugs bender. After her discharge from hospital on Wednesday night, she and Blake were ordered to the Four Seasons Hotel in Hook, Hants, by her parents. Contrary to reports, Amy has NOT been to rehab since her overdose.

Amy’s life was saved by Blake, 25—who rushed her to London’s University College Hospital A&E at 1am on Wednesday morning. There Amy was given an adrenaline shot [after having] smoked heroin, snorted cocaine, taken ecstasy pills and horse tranquilliser ketamine and washed it down with whisky and vodka during the London pub crawl that led to her collapse.
