You'll want to peel yourself away from Indie for a couple hours on July 3. When I was in college, I did a radio show on KUCI. They have a Hall Of Fame show and i'll be doing it. They stream on line.

My credo was always playing stuff that wasn't played anywhere else. Unfortunately, radio today sounds like my show 17 years ago.

I'm hoping to get a regular gig.

I'll give more details as it get closer.

I think you should play nothing but Tegan & Sara

I'll bet the KROQ Spy wants nothing but Morley Crue

Congrats, Larry!

I have total faith that whatever Larry chooses to play, it's gonna be WAY better than The Fleiss and Tegan and Sara put together.

Thanks for the faith, Miche. I'll guarantee one thing...that it will sound NOTHING like KROQ, unless your radio is a time machine that allows you to listen in to the future and hear the music that KROQ will finally get aroound to playing after the record labels have paid them off...errr...I mean after the record labels have signed their bands on to play a Weenie Roast or Acoustic X-Mas in exchange for radio exposure (euphemism for "payola").

It will be more like a Jonesy's Jukebox or Rollins show...with an eccentric mix of my faves from the past (that criminally got overlooked) and some of my faves from the present (I was doing the same thing back then...) If I play a popular band, I don't go for the hit, but I go deeper in the album, their back catalog, the b-side...

It's a 200 watt radio station (it was 25 when I was there). People that are going to search the station out don't want to hear the same 10 songs that are jammed down their throat in regular rotation hourly, with 25 minutes of commercials in-between. I'm a die-hard music lover and I cater to those out there like me.

Oh...and a "cool DJ name"...uhh, thanks for the recomendation. How about "Bean"?...no

"Larry the fish"?....no

"Doc Rock""...DAMN! That's too close!!

Oh well.

Those KROQers sure have wacky ideas about what makes a good radio station.

I am sure that whatever Larry decides it will be a good show. I am sure that he will make all the right decisions.
