Stone Temple Pilots are exponentionally better than Velvet Revolver. As amazing a guitarist as Slash is, the DeLeo brothers and Scott Weiland just make better music. Period.

Image

Soundgarden was better than Audioslave. So was Rage against the Machine. Chris Cornell has a helluva voice and the guys from Rage are amazing musicians. Some things just shouldn't mix, though. Like scotch and cotton candy.

Image

Nirvana was better than Foo Fighters. Well, definitely Foo Fighters now. I have to admit, the self-titled FF album is one of my all-time favorite albums. The Colour and the Shape is another CD I can listen to all the way through without skipping any songs. But each album has since gotten progressively worse. I can't even stand to hear the new single and haven't bothered buying the new album.

Image

The real Pumpkins were better than whatever you might call this latest incarnation. They may be billing themselves as "The Smashing Pumpkins" when really it's just Billy Corgan, Jimmy Charmberland and two people they've never met before and we've never heard of. They're about as much Smashing Pumpkins as Guns 'n' Roses are anymore.

Image

Bush was better than just being Mr. Gwen Stefani. Well, kind of. Sixteen Stone is pretty good, but that's about it. Although that album spawned a lot of singles at the time that seemed good, that's not really an album I can go back and listen to. Doesn't really stand the test of time.

Image

90's Weezer would be so sad to see the 21st cenutry Weezer. Their music sounds so goddamn weak and watered down these days. Even the sad, gloomy songs sound so manufactured and the lyrics, which were previously great and full of neat imagery, just sound like they were lazily written on a napkin ten mintues before recording. Although, I am glad to hear that the rumors of their break up was not true. I'm willing to give them another shot and I'll probably be buying the new album this year.

Image

Counting Crows....sucked ass then and haven't gotten much better since. Counting Crows?! Really?! Jesus Christ. I'd rather listen to the Spin Doctors. Ooh, I think I"ll go download Two Princes.

Image

Wow, Pearl Jam. Maybe the only band here that's still around and arguably still as good as they were back in the 90s. Sure, maybe they're not selling as many albums and being played in tampon ads, but I think they prefer it that way. I actually love Eddie Veder as a musician and as a person in general. Call me crazy, but I think Vs. is a better album than Ten. I know Ten was the monster album that got them recognition, but there's more songs I like on Vs. Besides, the best songs on Ten are the ones that didn't become singles. Like Oceans. I really do need to see them before they decide to hang it up and call it a day.

I like them, just not as much as everyone else seems to. The self-titled is a great album but unfortunately it got so overplayed that I got tired of most of the songs. In fact, it still gets overplayed to this day. But there are a handful of songs I still enjoy from them.

You seem to forget that the most important bands of the 00's didn't sell any records, received no airplay & where turned down by every major label.

That sucks man.

Yeah, I'm up late working on me book.

It called.

"MY LIFE IN THE FLEISS - The truth behind the lies, con & deception."

It basically a whistleblower about how the major lables tries to surpress the music of The Fleiss.

I rekon the movie will have behind the scenes footage and all kinds of added value benefits & interviews etc. It would suck if it went straight to DVD.

It will also have lyrics published of new upcoming single.

Hot on the heels of this post, from Spin.com:

Tired of those Guns N' Roses loose ends? Yearning for Scott Weiland and the DeLeo brothers once again? Well, attention Stone Temple Pilots fans! Your day in the sun may have come, for Weiland, speaking to the Miami Herald, said "we should be on the lookout for an STP reunion in the coming months." Amazing! But lets just hope his words weren't, you know, under the influence.

Wow, did I become a writer for Spin Magazine over the weekend and write that? I don't remember a thing. But aside from that brilliant writer, have any of you ever gotten the chance to see STP live? My brother says they're the best live band he's ever seen. I've heard others say the same. From what I've seen on youtube and old clips, I'm inclined to believe it. If it's true and they come around here, you'd be wise to score a ticket. Never know when you might get a chance to see those four guys play live again.
