Saddle Creek Prepares DVD Set

Chris Rediske reports:
So, let us guess...you've long been of the opinion that Conor Oberst is the cutest thing since that Shih Tzu puppy you saw down the street in 1995, but you haven't been able to peg just why. Is it his carefully disheveled appearance? His perfectly coiffed mop top that can't seem to stay out of his eyes? The fact that he started an imprint called Team Love? Or maybe it's the fact that he seems to have trouble standing up every time you see him live. Well, you're about to have the perfect opportunity to nail down exactly what it is about Oberst-- and the rest of the Saddle Creek gang-- that is just so adorable, with the upcoming DVD release of Spend an Evening with Saddle Creek: The First 10 Years of Saddle Creek Records.

The DVD is due out August 23 on Plexifilm, and purports to deliver "a postcard from the Nebraskan music scene, an inspirational tale of dreams made reality." The film was made by Jason Kulbel and Rob Walters, who are billed as "two of Omaha's musical stalwarts," which we think means that they go to a lot of Bright Eyes shows and shout "THE CITY HAS SEX!!!" really loudly. In any case, Spend an Evening with Saddle Creek features archival footage, rare performances, and interviews with every damn band on the Saddle Creek roster as of filming in 2003-2004. Which means that although you'll get to hear Mike Mogis relating interesting anecdotes about recording just about every album released on Saddle Creek, you'll also have to listen to Son, Ambulance. Sometimes you got's to take the sour with the sweet.

It's not fair to use my weakness to your advantage guys!

Thanx Tom, I'll definetely check it out!

Conor is definetely adorable, but I think it's his imperfect voice and vulnerable lyrics that make him so.

I think it's his big brown eyes and his winning smile. lol Who the fuck wrote that article - an editor from Teen People? I think as Annie pointed out, Conor might also sing and write songs in his spare time. But that could just be a rumor.
