Indie and Radio Stations

Post by MicheBel »

The link to the radio station we all LOVE:

http://www.indie103.fm/

The link to the other similar San Diego radio station:

http://www.fm949sandiego.com/listen/index.cfm

At the moment, they have no service to Macintoshes (contrary to what this page says). Trust me. They WILL soon, though.

Another online radio site a Street Team member likes is:

http://www.radioparadise.com/

This one actually GASP has an updated playlist!

Oh, and the last of the bunch which also has an updated playlist:

http://www.kcrw.org/

They are also the first ones to do podcasting of all of these. ENJOY!!!

Also give a listen to 97-X/woxy.com from Cincy--an independently-owned and critically-acclaimed mom & pop radio station that broadcasted on conventional FM from 1983 until last year and then went to Internet only following a sale. Three of the former FM jocks are on the still broadcasting live on the Internet for 14 hours each weekday.

I cannot believe you smirched my page here by posting a link for 91X!

When people are in San Diego, they are to listen to 94.9. NOTHING ELSE!

honestly!

PS--91X used to be good when Halloran was there. Now that he's NOT, 94.9 is the place to be.... (cleared that up...)

Yeah, actually it seems like from what I've seen Halloran plays a lot of the same songs as KROQ and 91X anyways. Like even before Indie came along, KROQ played Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Sublime, which were all in that list you posted. What's great about Indie, though and what sets them apart, is their playlist consists of bands you can't find anywhere else (at least in the LA-Southern California area). Not just new bands either, but classic songs from older bands like the Ramones (and not just I Wanna Be Sedated or Blitzkrieg Bop). It's only now that KROQ has caught on and tried emulating Indie's playlist. I think that's what I found most lacking from 94.9 was the void of new breakthrough artists that you hear on an hourly basis at our beloved Indie. So, I gotta say Indie > all.
