I spend every Thurs. night listening to Complete Control with Joe Sib and it is full on raging punk rock brilliance. Last night Joe had Lars Fredrickson on the show sharing good stories and playing kick ass punk rock. If any of you are into punk rock step to it and listen Joe Sib does it right and has great guests as well. Just thought I would pass that along..........

gabba gabba hey!
Yes it was an event worthy of Johnny Ramone's Legend. Because hell he is a legend!
I got to meet Jonesys, Eddie Vieder, Anthony from the chili peppers.
It was a great service, awesome stories told. The statue is awesome. Befitting a LEGEND that Johnny is.
I am trying to edit the 100+ photos I took. I will post them up on the site.
It was a very cool thing to be there and see.

Eddie was a great guy and he made my day. He had his daughter in this arms and signed a guy we met there, his tamborine for him. nice nice nice.
Jonesys on the hand, that was a complete let down for me. Eddie made the day for me, it was a dream come true to be able to met both, but one was a real nice person and the other was a selfish wanker. sorry.

Wow, first off that is so amazing about your day! I would've loved to have met Ed and Anthony. Plus I heard Nic Cage actually spoke at the ceremony, and guests included Pete Yorn, Rob Zombie and even ol' Vincent Gallo himself. Aww...I knew he loved Johnny, after all.

In regards to your comments on Jonesy though...haha! I can actually vouch for that. He's a bit um...standoffish to put it kindly. To put it bluntly, he's a bit of a pr*ck. But, that's just the way he is, he doesn't really like mingling with people I think. But yeah, I met him at the Ramones 30th anniversary at the Avalon. And actually, out of all the people there I was the only one he stopped to take a picture with. I couldn't believe it, not only cause he's a legend and one of my favorite people, but especially because he literally blew off every other person who asked for pictures/autographs. I've got to say that's definitely a highlight of my life

Does anyone else dislike the club radio they play on Indie on Saturdays from midnight to 5 am? I don't mean to step on anyone's music tastes, so I'll just say that I personally don't really care for house music. I don't really know why they play it either, but KROQ seems to do the same thing from midnight to 3 am. Anyone know why they do it?

I can't verify if this is official or not, but I was looking through the late night talk show guest line-ups and apparently Jonesy is scheduled to be on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson Next week. "Th 1/27: Vanessa Williams, Steve Jones"

If you're not familiar with this show, it used to be the Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn until he quit. It airs from 12:35 am - 1:35 am PST on CBS. Be sure to tune in, or for all you in the Los Angeles area, click here for tickets.

http://www.cbs.com/latenight/latelate/tickets/

Like I said though, I can't verify if this is actually true or not or if it's really another infamous Steve Jones slated to appear. haha But, I'd say it's probably correct and probably our man Jonesy.

I read the link of Element Radio on the Indie 103.1 website, and I think it's awesome to hear some great electronic music because that definitely needs to be heard. As far as house is concerned, I haven't heard the music played completely on saturday nights, but maybe they should play the ones that are not heard as often as compared to the music heard on KROQ, yes?

I sometimes like the saturday night show. It really depends who is the guest DJ for element radio. I do think electronic music should fit in with Indie because a lot of people who listen to electronic music tend to have other musical interests. It's quite common in other countries as well. Also music festivals tend to mix rock and electronic, so they do each other justice. Take for example Coachella, Big Day Out, and other international music festivals.

The one show I really love is Community Service hosted by the Crystal Method. I also hope there can be a show where other forms of electronic music is played which ranges from Electroclash, Drum n bass, and so on.

Oh, and house music sucks!

Dear Indie-
You know I love you, but you gotta quit playing that aweful linkin park sounding (apparently its the Chemical Bros.) Song "Push the Button." Not only does it get enough radio play on KROQ, I just don't need to hear it 50 fucking times a day! For Christsake leave the repetition to KROQ. They are really good at it. Oh and what's this shit about Johnny Ramone gettin a statute? WTF and Joey wasn't good enough for any acknowledgement?
Ohh and MR.Sovel if you could please play "GLISS"(a local band) during your Check One Local Music show that would be great.
I love you jonesy. Please don't let Henry Rollins have a radio show he goes on and on and on about bullshit. Play some music already its not fucking talk radio!

Jeez, Alex. I see you came by your name fairly.

While I agree with you about that Chemical Bros. song (and a few others that are getting WAY stale in the Indie rotation), the things they are playing more than balance that out.

Second, it's Henry Rollins' show. He can talk about whatever the heck he WANTS to talk about. If you don't like it, change the bloody station. Have you ever heard some of Rollins' spoken word (aka poetry) stuff? F***ing brilliant. He can ramble about whatever he wants, as far as I'm concerned. (And, not to mention that he's hot, and I'll listen to hot guys all day long.)

Oh, and if you want Mr. Sovel to play some stuff on his fab show, Check One Two, bloody send it in like everyone else. There are very nice instructions on the home page of Indie. (Or have the band send it in.)

And lastly, cheer the hell up. Life's too short to be angry at such a wonderful radio station.

Totally agree Rollins is brilliant and Alex needs to soak his head in a bucket of cold water!!
Rollins was teaching music 101 during his Harmony in my Head show on Indie and playing some of the most diverse setlists heard on the airwaves plus supplying the listeners with great stories regarding each piece of music. Rollins turned me onto the Fall, the Ruts and several other musicians with his show come on man its Henry friggin' Rollins get a clue.
Not to unload on old Alex but ripping on Rollins for "talking to much" maybe Alex better listen to what Rollins is saying and playing and if you don't get it than change the station or I am sure KROQ would love to have you as a listener.

Hey flapjack. I listen to indie 103 over the net, because im not in LA and its a damn fine radio station. Rollins is a cool guy. I really like his DJ style. Besides, your probably just some 17 year old guy that complains about people on a higher intellectual level that he knows nothing about and will die a fat drunk poor old man with a small penis and a bald spot in a smelly cramped one bedroom apartment. I liked element radio when it was on 106.3 on that vietnamese station after midnight on saturday nights, but it was too hard to get reception and I hate listening to those vietnamese people talk about whatever they are talking about (I can't understand vietnamese). Also, 103.1 used to be a dance station, I loved that station and missed it, a little bit of that techno stuff on saturdays is great.

LOL No. I put that in there because after 30, everyone in Hollywood is old. So an age in there doesn't matter. If I get to know someone, they can ask me, and I'll tell them. I'm actually quite proud of my age. (Never felt better in my life.) Haven't needed to break out the walker just yet. ;-)

Kristee, I was thinking of you when all this craziness was happening, actually. Here I am, chatting about cock in here (luckily they didn't see that...) and meanwhile fending off crazy men on the Messenger. Well, not crazy, just mad horny.

I know like I'm sounding like a dichotomy here, but what the hell is it with men (in LA, on the Internet, whatever) who think they can actually say to a chick, Hey, let's meet at this motel I'm staying at, and SHE'LL GO? Without ever having met him? Do girls in LA actually DO THIS?

I mean, I love a good stiff one as much as the next girl, but whatever bloody happened to HELLO, can I take you out to a movie? DAMN! I'm so steamed over this. No manners, no couth. I'll happily stay celibate, and keep my great blowjobs all to myself than ever meet one of these losers.

But seriously, if you're interested, I'll give you all their screennames. I'm done with that business.

Oh man, oh man. I shouldn't say this on the Indie board, I suppose, but once awhile ago I was priviliged to see a pic of Mr. Rollins with an erection, and sweet Jesus, I'm a changed woman. It is one of the highlights of my life, truly. Hence the comment that Indie is indeed the "Cock of Rock" station, is oh so accurate.

YUM. Henry Rollins. YUM.

Dear God, hold me down. I'm outta control. Why'd you go there, Kristee? Why? Those evil Messenger men are gonna be after me now, hearing me talk like this. heh

Well, now, I have to defend the men of the Internet for a minute. I've met many great people (men and women) that I spoke to first on the Internet. In fact, I'm in California at least partly due to people I met online. So I can say good things about them. It's not the evil cesspool that it once was.

However, the bad thing about it is that it's instant intimacy. People think they can say all kinds of shit to you that they'd never actually say to your face when first meeting you.

The drug of porno has morphed into the instant access of Internet porno, and men sometimes find it difficult to draw the line back to normalcy. One of the guys yesterday, for example, starts out with, "Wanna webcam?" His first words to me.

As far as some of the things you described, I'm sorry that happened. I've never been in situations like that. There are quite a few wackos in CA, I've noticed, but my emotional walls are also pretty thick. I can see sexual deviants coming from miles away. Want no part of that action. Held hostage! My god, I can't even imagine how horrifying that must've been.

I mean, seriously, who needs men? Sex toys have really advanced, with technology. ;-) A few sex toys and a cat, and you're set. (That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.)

I have made many friends here on the 'net....I just do not choose to take any of that to the next level....I think that both men and women will behave on-line in any fashion that they "believe" to be appropriate.....the unfortunate thing is, that what in okay for you might offend me...

The ONLY thing I KIND OF agree with you on is that Indie, just like all the rest of them, over plays A BUNCH of songs WAY too much. There's a hell of a lot of great music out there, and to over play stuff as much as it is done is ridiculous. Some of us might listen to the radio more than others, and are apt to hear the same songs being repeated because of that, but I don't listen that often, and I still always hear the same songs over and over again.

Admittedly, there are some songs I might not have begun to like if they weren't played so much, but after a few months of heavy rotation, they need to start lessening the frequency of how often they play songs. I've also gotten sick of great songs because of this, as I'm sure everyone here also has.

Alex, why are you picking ONLY on the Chemical Bros. song when there are tons of others that are over played even more? And obviously, many of us love Henry Rollins' show. That guy has an awesome taste in music, as well as a vast knowledge of it. Plus, he caters to the music fan, by letting us know all about the obscure stuff he plays, and where we can possibly buy it. I wish Jonesy would do that, or at least back announce more diligently.

Indie sure tastes the best out of all the other stations, but there is a lot of room for improvement to the recipe and baking techniques. KCRW 89.9 FM kicks ass also: http://www.kcrw.com

I just wish we could have KROQ back the way they were in the late 70's and very early 80's. If you missed them then, man, you missed the best radio ever. Rodney Bingenhiemer is the only remaining remnant of KROQ's glory days, but he lacks the humor the rest of the DJs had.

Does anyone remember KSCA? I have their farewell broadcast on tape somewhere.

See, I oppose censorship in all fashions. And I blame Janet Jackson and that whole trumped up brouhaha for making people scared to even type words into a bulletin board site. I'll say it, and be proud to say it, and dammit, isn't that the kind of station that Indie is? I might not say it on the street to someone, but if a punk/hip/cool station can't allow people to say cock in the privacy of its own messages boards, I mean what kind of world are we living in?

Nonetheless, I'm really glad you stepped up there and joined me, because I was scared about it too. Sad, huh?

Guess one doesn't know what the limits are until one tests them, eh? Make me the guinea pig for that, it's ok. I survived the Hollywood Cafe, I can survive anything online.

Yeah, Tom, I was thinking about that recently. They should have Mr. Shovel (or someone) announce the song selections. (Or have them both do it together, or something, it just seems uncoordinated now.) Jonesy seems to really struggle with those mundane detail type things. Not to mention that half the time he whistles a song, he forgets to mention what it was.

And seriously, you're introducing people to great music that most of them have probably never heard, we need the names of the bloody songs!

I stand corrected and my apologies to Ms. Alex. Banishing Ms. Alex to KROQ street was a bit narrow minded on my part. Ms.Alex can feel free to spin her radio dial and listen to quite a full range of sludge radio that plays in LA.

First of all I am not mad, I have no reason to be angry at Indie.
It's the best thing to happen to LA since I moved here four years ago. Second, of all I have read some of Henry's spoken word as well as jello biafra's. It's great, really great for them that they can get published, its fantastic. But its not like they're fuckin Noam Chomsky. And finally, if Henry really does have a big penis(which I think is not the case, I bet his just a midget-boy and his cock looks big 'cus he's got bitch hands.)then give his "penis" a radio show. Maybe his penis will play more music and stop talking about how he and Fugazi played together when they were still minor threat and blah, blah, blah, blah. For christsake, he was around then? right. I thought we had established that he was there. After all his "being there when it all went down" is what maked him an Icon now.And if I want to complain about henry's boring monologues I will. But at this point I want to hear more from his Penis! Hmmm

You are so bloody cool. Have I mentioned that lately? And it seems like we have SO much in common! I was a French Lit major in college, with Journalism and German minors. (Fat lot of good all that did me...) Eh, I spent most of my time hanging out in the drama department, chasing boys. :-)
<<I think that I can top the Hollywood Cafe...I survived the 29 cent Hamburger Stand...We actually had plain wrap hamburger joints here in Cali back in the 80's......UGH BLIK YUK POOIE. ~shudder~>>
The Hollywood Cafe was an online joint, where the most loathesome characters on Earth hung out. It was kind of abuse central. I learned all kinds of tricks that people pull online, it was jawdropping. But the advantage(s) of that were: 1. you can't pull anything over on me online too easily and 2. I got a crash course in how people in Hollywood work, which you know is really different than anywhere else.

Cause there were a lot of celebrities and whatnot that hung there. It was pretty amazing.

As far as burger stands, I don't do burgers anymore. No more red meat. (I'm such a Californian...) Although someone just introduced me to In N Out's animal style fries (the bastard). I had been so studiously avoiding that place, thinking all they had to offer was red meat. Well, I'm still studiously avoiding it, but man did those taste GOOOOOOD.

No, the coolest thing about CA food is fish tacos! (No jokes please.) That and avocados.

Vallies are helping immensely though. Thanks.

What a treasure trove this is! My god! I do a similar things most days, just for my own records. It's funny to see what you wrote compared to what I wrote.

However, I could live a long while without seeing that pic of Jonesy on the can, thank you very much. :-P

GREAT SITE, highly recommended.

Heh, I have heard so many farewell broadcasts... Maybe its because I listen to these stations that have really bad reception? Indie needs to up thir reception!! My 50 year old radio doesn't like weak signals hehe. And as far as repetitive songs go, I haven't heard too much repetition, blame school for that. Repetition is good sometimes, makes it so some people can hear some of the songs they missed. Just as long as they don't repeat as much as KROQ I'm happy. I find KROQ and 98.7 repeat the same songs over and over and over and over and over and over and more... (I should request the Chemical Bro's more so people can bitch and whine some more, just kidding). I'm feeling weird today, maybe this cold has gotten to my head.

Hey, I was eating lunch and saw an article in some newspaper that I can't seem to find about the mashups on Indie and how it's changing the views on Rock. Interesting. Now if I could only find that ---- newspaper so I can read it. Anyone seen that article and know which newspaper that was from? Maybe I can narrow down my newspaper search down to 1 paper company instead of 234098234982349324.

Wowza. I'm actually hearing Morning Has Broken (Cat Stevens) on Jonesy. One thing's for sure, this show certainly is unpredictable.

I did email him that question and his response was that he will be very busy the rest of this year so his return to Indie will be unlikely. Kind of sucks but his show was great while it lasted. Oh yeah I have no info. regarding Hanks crank so you ladies are on
your own on that one.(ha)
I am hoping Indie puts Jane Wiedlin in the now open Monday night dj spot. She was really good this past Monday.

Can you have the Weirdoes on, or Nicky Beat the drummer that used to be in the band. Also, what about Gun Club? I think Terry Graham is still around.
