Is it true, Jonezy and the Sex Pistols are going to be inducted into the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame?

Who woulda thunk it?

its the impact they had on music. im kinda surprised myself though that they were inducted. but the reverberations of their antics are only beginning to be felt by the world in the general.

i think music executives see the next big thing is going to be a modern punk revolution.

I have to disagree, they were in the right place at the right time, that's all. Nothing special

I heard that on Dicky's show....but I didn't hear whether it was just Jonsey or the Pistols....would make sense for it to be the whole group...eventhough Jonsey is great by himself....

Anyone who craps on a gold plated record deserves to be "in"

that means they become "special" by default. all bands had to be in some "right" place at some "right" time to become noticed by the public at large, i think the Sex Pistols MADE it their place and time.

Just beacause you are lazy, never play any gigs and only have a handful of songs dosent mean you cant be brilliant & successful.

I would be very suspicious if The Sex Pistol decided to do another album this late in the game. What that be a good thing or just asking for disaster.

took a quick glance and saw that "The Doors" & "Rod Stewart" were in too, so that raises the credibility question. Historically speaking there is absolutley no reason to have "The Sex Pistols" in the HOF. One album, coatailing on "The Kinks" & "Gang of Four". There were a million punk bands back then, this was just one record companies decided to throw money and whores at.

Quick BiLzamoo & Annie name 5 "Sex Pistols'" songs!

Yeah right Tom! The Kinks?! The Kinks, first of all, weren't even punk, they were just thrown into the category because people weren't ready to accept real punk and they were more comfortable with The Kink's pop version of it. The Sex Pistols are extremely important as far as RnR history goes because not only were they part of a musical movement and revolution, they also were extremely influential to a whole generation as far as questioning authority and being politically informed and involved. Yes, there were a million and one punk bands in the 70's, but few achieved what they did. Money and whores? Lay off the VH1.
I mean, who do you suggest as an inductee? Twin canadian chipmunks? That raises the question of YOUR credibility.

Congrats

its like "what coulda been". the punk mystique was formed, they came in roaring and went out in an atomic explosion.

they didnt give a shit and meant it. people could say "wow, those guys were really about what they were about."

they defined themselves and defined a new genre instead of being defined by the genre.

i love la francais, its so manifique. is jonezy french?

it wasnt "good" if you scored their music based on technical merit, i think they admited not knowing how to play anyways. music is more than just how complicated your pieces are.

but what you cant recreate is their spontinaity, creativity, their energy.... their legacy. it was art in one of its rawest form.

rawR!!!!

Score: BiLzamo 3 - Tom 0 (and a very lame attempt)

Can you say there has been a song before or since that captures the spirit of "Anarchy in the UK" any better than "Anarchy in the UK".

It is ready to capture a whole new generation of kids.

Tom, you have officially dethroned Annie as having the worst musical taste in the world. If there were a horrible music hall of fame you'd be a shoe in for induction this year, my friend. Maybe if you're lucky we can land John Mayer to give a nice speech.

Yes! And afterwards the two can compare their chests for the better wax job. Personally, my money's riding on Hasseloff.
