Tegan and Sara Plan 2006 Japan, U.S. Treks

Wonder Twin Powers...ACTIVATE! Form of: Canadian alt-pop duo! Tegan and Sara, beloved by Neil Young (they're on his label) and the White Stripes alike, are heading back on tour, still celebrating their 2004 album So Jealous. While the disc received the ol' P'fork atomic elbow smash (from the top rope no less), it found one fan in Jack White, who covered So Jealous' lead single "Walking With a Ghost" for a holiday EP, due in stores today, December 6.

Beginning in mid-January, after a Japanese tour with All-American Rejects, Tegan and Sara will take part in the latest edition of Cake's "Unlimited Sunshine" tour, which in the past has featured such bizarre touring partners as Cake / Flaming Lips / Modest Mouse / Hackensaw Boys / De La Soul and Cake / Cheap Trick / Detroit Cobras / Charlie Louvin (of the legendary close-harmony country duo the Louvin Brothers). Yeah yeah, anybody touring with Cake is automatically a little bit bizarre, but come on, Cheap Trick and a guy in the Country Music Hall of Fame?!

This year is no less weird, as that sing-talkin' John McCrea and his boys will welcome NYC Gypsy punkers Gogol Bordello and comedian Eugene Mirman into their caravan along with the sisters Quin for the trek. Can you imagine the jokes that are gonna fly on that tour bus?

In other T&S news, the pair recently joined Le Tigre, Common, Chris Walla, and a host of other hipsters in People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals' peta2 campaign. The two will star in the organization's latest anti-fur ad begging the question: "If you wouldn't wear your dog, please don't wear any fur." For those of you who do wear dogs, we guess it's OK if you wear fur. You're still really evil.
