Brits 2006 Nominations Announced
Kaiser Chiefs, Coldplay, Oasis, Hard Fi, KT Tunstall, Hard-Fi and James Bloody Blunt are all recognised in the 2005 Brit Awards nominations.
At the nominations ceremony at West London's Riverside Studios last night (January 10) it was announced that Kaiser Chiefs and James Blunt were leading the pack with an impressive five nominations each.
Elsewhere, Coldplay picked up a perfectly respectable four nominations for 'X&Y', while KT Tunstall and Franz Ferdinand are both up for three gongs.
Surprisingly (and following rumours they'd refused to play at the award ceremony itself) it was revealed that Oasis are only up for two awards (Best Rock and Best Live Act) despite the massive critical and commercial success of their album 'Don't Believe The Truth'.
There were more surprises in the international categories with Arcade Fire notching up and impressive three nominations, a feat only matched by Madonna.
And (just to prove just how Xfm-centric all the big awards ceremonies are these days) the Best Breakthrough category includes The Arctic Monkeys and The Magic Numbers.
This year is the 26th Anniversary of The Brits and will be hosted on February 15 at London’s Earls Court by Chris Evans. Guests performing on the night include Coldplay, The Kaiser Chiefs, James Blunt, Kanye West, Kelly Clarkson and KT Tunstall.
