Nouvelle Vague to Tour North America

French neo-bossanova duo Nouvelle Vague are set to embark on their first North American tour. The band, composed of producers Marc Collins and Olivier Libaux, released its self-titled debut last May on Peacefrog. The record featured female vocalists from France, Brazil, and New York, covering punk and new wave songs that they hadn't heard before by bands like the Clash, XTC, Joy Division, Dead Kennedys, and the Specials. The arrangements were all shook up, bridging the (rather large) gap between the new wave/post-punk originals and the trip-hop/Francopop/bossanova spin of Nouvelle Vague, and the end result is vibrant and refreshingly free of irony. In May, V2 Records gave the album a rub & tug (industry speak for "re-release") and NV's set to promote the bejesus out of it. Dates!
