Seriously, I've never understood that stereotype. The Mexicans I've met work and work and then work some more. Very hard-working and ambitious.

Yeah, but just like with any other race, its those bad seeds that give the rest of us a bad name (i.e. cholos, drug dealers, etc.)
I actually got into it with the Canadian's twin brother one day. We had just exited the freeway and he started to make faces at the guy in the corner selling oranges. God I'm so glad I didn't marry into the family...

I went, it was all right. It was hotter than hell, and the traffic back into l.a. was bumper to bumper!

Lots of car clubs were there. For those that don't know, it's basically a group of people that get together, drive classic 50's and some 60's cars..and dress in a 50's style - greaser / betty page style. Some clubs are women only (Black Widows), and some are just based on location. Lots and lots of tattoos.. Shops were set up selling artwork, pictures, paintings, parasols, hand bags, masks, t shirts, etc. El Vez was scheduled to play later on, but I only caught the first band, which I thought was pretty good (rockabilly style music). Some families were there, and had brought barbecues for later on. I'm a sucker for women in 50's style clothing- I think an ugly woman would look great with the bangs/skirt/etc.. (strange? heh) It was like being in the movie 'Crybaby' by Jon Waters.

If any of the pictures come out, I'll post them here later.

I saw that film, One Day Without Mexicans, and I was really excited because I thought that my arguement that California (and many other economies) would go straight into the shitter without itinerant labor. I was disappointed that they made it into a comedy and a shitty one at that....
