Oh wow, that bull song sounded interesting. I did a lyric search and the closest thing I could find to it was a Frank Zappa song called Truck Driver Divorce. I know Indie's played Valley Girl, so this is a remote possibility.
"Oh, go ride the bull! Oh, go ride the bull! Make it go up 'n down 'N when you fall off" - Does that sound like the song you heard?
Fortunately, I know the other two In Betweens by heart.
("you're not bigger than this, not better, why can't you learn?")

Jimmy Eat World - Lucky Denver Mint (my favorite JEW song)
("they don't love you like I love you") nanana, nanana, wait...they don't love you like I love you...wait, they don't love you like I love you...etc.
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Maps (one of my favorite songs of 2004, along with Modest Mouse's Float On).

Truck Driver Divorce. That's perfect. Yeah, it did sound kinda far away, like old vinyl. Coulda been Zappa. (You are so good with these!)
Thanks for the other two.
Oh, and there was a song just now between The Plimsouls and The Ramones. It was an overplayed playlist song, but I can't remember what it was.

I will say that it was a joint idea of Kevin's and mine. We felt the need for it, since there are so many of us who want to know absolutely every song that plays on Indie. Since they don't publish a playlist anywhere, we do it, as much as possible. Feel free to add any you might hear, too.
Oh, and just so you know the rules, it's whatever is IN BETWEEN the things listed on

				Guys, guys, guys.
It goes like this.
You pick ONE song which is listed on Yes.Net
then you pick ANOTHER SONG listed on Yes.Net.
Then you NAME the song IN BETWEEN THEM that isn't listed (sometimes it's more than one).
If you just name two songs, it's not In Between, is it?

And if you name one song, and the song in question, and not the OTHER song, which was actually listed, people don't know what it came in between (although that is easier to guess).
(Although that was a very good first try, Annie. Keep it up.)
Sorry to take you away from your schoolwork. We do that to Jack too.
And as for Mr. Shovel having his own superhero music....AHEM...we'll just move on to another topic now, shall we?

				Annie, be patient. They will.
Usually a few lyrics are all people in here need to tell you what it is. Then, if we really don't know, Mr. Shovel might pop in to help us out.

Hey, sorry guys. I usually post on the mornings/afternoons at work and then late at night when I get to a computer again. So there's usually long gaps between my posts. I'm willing to bet the first In Between was Blue Spark by X. Very sharp guitar riff that keeps cutting in through the lyrics. I know they used to play that a lot on Indie when I listened at work.

Annie, the "I'm half the man I used to be" song was Creep by Stone Temple Pilots. Very slow, melancholy song, yes? It's off of their debut album, Core, I believe.

Here guys, I wrote this out to help clarify just what the In Betweens are. Hope this helps.
Pretty much all the songs played on Indie 103.1 are listed on yes.net. That way if there's no DJ on to tell you the name of a band/song, then you can go to there and find out what song it was. Yes.net is a pretty cool site, they have most of Indie's playlist listed by time played. The only problem is yes.net only has so many songs and they often don't list a song that was played, either because it is too new or it is just an album that is not available in their database.
Here, I'll use Miche's last In Between as an example. Don't reply to this one guys, it's already been answered.
She heard a song on Indie earlier with the lyrics "blue spark" in it that wasn't on yes.net. The song was played in between Nine Inch Nails' Hand That Feeds and Oasis' Lyla. So the "blue spark" song was the In Between and she posted this and waited for someone to come and reply with what the song was and who sang it, since it wasn't listed on yes.net. Got it?

Like now, for example.
In Between
Nine Inch Nails--The Hand that Feeds
and
OASIS Lyla
we had some song
whose only lyrics I could catch were:
"blue spark"
I replied saying it was Blue Spark by X.

Now, Trixie and Annie, even if you can't remember what the rules are, just at least list THREE songs. Kay?

And furthermore, I didn't mention the song names of the Plimsouls and Talking Heads because BOTH were listed on yes.net.

Well....the background on the THAT'S A BULLSHIT QUESTION and SHE'S GOT A KNIFE is that we had Indie party, and we were all at a restaurant and I told the guy it was my birthday...BUT...that if he came back with the waiters and a plate of flan that I had a knife...and I wasn't afraid to use it...but instead of picking up up the knife....I grabbed a fork...DOH
Then the bullshit part was when we were playing Trivial Pursuit...they asked a question and I spouted off with the bullshit comment...thats when Roberts said: Duh...that's why the game is called Trivial Pursuit...for some reason, redunancy just wasn't clicking for me that night...DOH part deux....

The Buzzcocks...I LOVE Everybody's Happy Nowadays. I've been listening to a poorly recorded mp3 of that song a lot lately. Anyone seen Shaun of the Dead here? Ash does a great cover of that song at the end of the movie. One of my favorite movies as well.

And as for Dead 60's Rio Radio...they're playing it on KROQ now.

Shaun of the Dead was one of the funniest movies of last year. Not, however, as funny as THE funniest, which was Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle. Though I think you have to have searched out those slimy little gutbombs after a long night of drinking to really appreciate it.

Miche - that song was apparently some 80s song, although I've never heard it before. It's a band called Aztec Camera, the song is titled Oblivious.
-Kevin
I actually saw Aztec Camera in concert, with PiL. Brilliant. Of course.
Thanks. (I think I was oblivious that year...)

				What a mess here...OK...
In Between
Nine Inch Nails--Head Like a Hole
and
Kasabian--Reason is Treason
we had:
the really cool new Foo Fighters song--Best of you
and
these lyrics: ("my wife and child waiting for me, I've been so alone, you see...when I walk through the door, my wife, she's laid upon the floor...then I looked into her hand, and I saw the telegram...but that I was dead...I want to see my family, my wife and child waiting for me...I've been so alone, you see")
and
Velvet Underground--Vicious
********************************************
In Between
The Bravery--Honest Mistake
and
THE ARCADE FIRE Wake Up
we had some playlist song, that I can't remember
********************************************
In Between
 THE ARCADE FIRE Wake Up
and
 MORRISSEY How Soon Is Now?
it SAYS we had PJ HARVEY This Mess We're In
but I think that was part of the Mash-Up of the Day which played here,
called Night of Kitten's Messy Dream (which was cool)
Whew.

Sure, uh huh, you did have to catch me on that one. I was hoping to just let that one slide through.
I know it's a regular playlist song, and the only lyrics I could (barely) catch were "everybody else in pain" right at the end. Good luck.
The one I actually came in here for is:
In Between
THE WHITE STRIPES Blue Orchid (yes, that's BLUE Orchid)
and
BUZZCOCKS Ever Fallen In Love?
we had
Wave of New Elation? don't know who it's by

Hm, couldn't find any songs with that line in it. Hey Tom, I don't suppose you caught any more of the lyrics by chance? Otherwise, I'm stumped.
Miche, your In Between was the Pixies - Wave of Mutilation. I LOVE the Pixies and that song.

I'm all for Pixies love myself. I tried to score tickets at the Wiltern on July 2 - ticketmaster.com said tickets went on sale at 12 noon, I checked all night even right before I went to bed at around 3 am. Woke up a few minutes before noon, and the website said that tickets went on sale at 10 am. I checked for best available seats and all that's left is in the way back.

My friends have been going for years, no horror stories and the tradition always goes like this: Everyone complains that they might not go, everyone breaks the piggy bank and goes. Everyone begs me to go everyday until the last night they're here. Everyone goes without me. They get so drunk they miss many bands. When I ask if they saw some of my favorite indie bands, they don't always know who I'm talking about. I almost kill them, it's not fair they get to go and aren't into teh bands as much as I am!!!!!
Ew, what did they eat? I'm really carefull about what I eat, I'm not picky, just careful... plus after eating in Mexico and having worms in my stomach before, I might be immune.

haha Oh, man. Yeah, who goes to Coachella to get wasted anyways? It's like, can't you pick any other weekend of the year to get plastered when there aren't 100 great bands playing in front of you? Go punch every single one of them if that happens again this year.
P.s. Don't drink the water, dear.

Thanks much. Yeah, I finally got to hear the entire Foo song yesterday after work on TK's show. I guess their upcoming album is going to be a double disc. I don't know if it's true or not, but my brother's bro in law was telling me a while back that they were going to try and make the first CD straight up rock 'n roll and the second CD was going to be slow, acoustic tunes. That sounds interesting. FF definitely have the versatility to pull it off.
