The first in between is Jimmy Eat World - Lucky Denver Mint. One of my

all time favorite songs, it's from one of their earlier albums.

Thanks, Cyrus. These were created because some people want to know what songs are playing every moment of the day. The only real reference we have is Yes.net, but they miss a lot of stuff. So, if I'm listening and checking the Yes site, and see they've missed one, I'll post it here. (Well, try to post it here. I'm not so good with the song titles. But it's amazing how many people--like you, thank you--jump in and give the correct song title, and/or album.)

BTW, thanks for joining us, Kevin. ;-)

I wonder if I should add an upload feature where you can upload songs for people to "preview" to find out what the name of the song is.

Yup, you were right. That was still Kasabian - L.S.F. And the Smiths lyrics you mentioned were from the famous, How Soon is Now. Man, I'm actually a bit perturbed that song wasn't on yes.net. It's immensely popular and well-known and has been covered by several bands, probably most famously by Richard Butler's (former Psychedelic Furs frontman) band Love Spit Love for The Craft soundtrack which caused a resurgence of the song.

No problem..
A lot times when I'm on my way home and a new song is on that I haven't heard before.
I'll get home and put on the webcast to find out who it is.
So this is way more helpful.

Also, I read your thing about iPods and I totally agree.
Like you were saying Indie as well has given us a higher standard of living through music.

Wow, Miche, you've been quite busy this afternoon even for you.
"Every time you close your eyes, lies, lies" Sounds like it was still the Arcade Fire song Rebellion (Lies). I'm going to go ahead and guess the Pretenders song was their cover of the Ramones' Something to Believe In. It probably wasn't, but it's a great song and you didn't have any lyrics anyways, so why not right?

Hm, can't find that last In Between anywhere. You've stumped me. At first I didn't know why you thought I was crying - I thought perhaps I had used the wrong smiley face. lol You're referring to my new signature. Oh, well I just used a quick lyric from Sid's version of My Way.

An In Between Challenge

Post by MicheBel »

OK, well, this is a challenge now.

In Between

URGE OVERKILL Sister Havana

and

THE RAMONES California Sun

we had

The Smiths--How Soon Is Now, I THINK

But here's the thing. He didn't say "I am human and I need to be loved" (I was listening for that). The song ended with these lyrics:

("when you say it's gonna happen now, what exactly do you mean? I've already waited too long, and all my hope is gone.")

I didn't hear the verses with "I am human and I need to be loved," but the other verses played.

<< am the son
And the heir
Of a shyness that is criminally vulgar
I am the son and heir
Of nothing in particular

I am the son
And the heir
Of a shyness that is criminally vulgar
I am the son and heir
Oh, of nothing in particular

There's a club, if you'd like to go
You could meet somebody who really loves you
So you go, and you stand on your own
And you leave on your own
And you go home, and you cry
And you want to die

When you say it's gonna happen "now"
Well, when exactly do you mean ?
See I've already waited too long
And all my hope is gone>>

Is this just a different version? Strange.

Actually, I was listening to Indie late the other night and I heard what I thought was the Smiths' How Soon is Now, but it turned out to actually be a recent (I think it's recent) version of Morrisey doing the song live. So perhaps when he does it now he changes the lyrics a bit.

First one is Buffalo Tom - Taillights Fade.

The second would be Curtis Mayfield - Freddie's Dead

In Between after Jonesy

Post by MicheBel »

(Whew! Was worried about that!)

OK, onward...I missed some during Jonesy, maybe catch them during the rebroadcast...

In Between

Doves--Black and White Town

and

Hole--Malibu

we had

("these are people who died, died...all my friends and they died.")

AFTER Hole,

and BEFORE

REM--Drive

we had

("I'm a sonic producer, I ain't no loser")

and

Nine Inch Nails--Hand that Feeds (weird, cause 94.9 lists it on Yes.Net, but Indie doesn't; yes, they both played it in the last hour)

and

("you're married with a kid when you should be having fun with ME!")

First song is The Jim Carroll Band - People Who Died. Man that song gets annoying quick.

Second song was actually saying, "I'm a sonic reducer, ain't no loser." Dead Boys - Sonic Reducer. Pretty good song.
"you're married with a kid when you should be having fun with ME!"
And finally, that last one is The Specials - Too Much, Too Young

In Between-- Jonesy's show end

Post by MicheBel »

In Between

Elliott Smith--Pretty (Ugly Before)

and

Sex Pistols--EMI

we have

a wistful, sad, touching end to an almost romantic show (with Marianne Faithfull). Jonesy just makes me cry sometimes, I swear.

Mmm yes, I got so sentimental I actually found a place to get a quick version of Human and I was listening to it. I dunno why, but that song makes me mope-y. Good stuff, nonetheless.

And I'll get right on it tomorrow, Kristee. I wouldn't want the Jack's Forum Deputy on my bum!

I'm just excited Hot Hot Heat finally have a good song. lol I know everyone else seemed to love their last album, Make Up the Break Down but I never got into it. The new tune is quite good, though. I'm thinking maybe for really good songs that just played on Indie we could post them in the "On Indie RIGHT now" section and just keep this for unknown In Betweens. That's probably where I'll put my Weezer review.

Well, you got it mostly right. (In Between is for songs NOT listed on Yes.Net; On Indie Right Now is for songs that are playing RIGHT NOW that you dig. Or interviews, or whatever.)

And Kev, I heard that Pretenders song that played up there earlier. It most definitely was NOT what you said. Nor was it Time and the Avenger, which is what I guessed. Hm, I think your Indie player is playing tricks on you. :o The lyrics you wrote are from the Buzzcocks - I Believe. "What I believe in There is no love in this world anymore." But you said it was a PIL song afterwards. So I'll just assume you're right and they did play a PIL song after the Buzzcocks. The only one I've ever heard them play, though, is Public Image.

The Ring of Fire cover was Social Distortion, I imagine. Quite the kick ass little cover by a kick ass little band. Much love for Social D.

And you were right - the X song is called 4th of July. :D

Pretty funny.

IN Between

Cliff Richard--We Don't Talk Anymore

and

this amazing, incredible, please play this 80 more times today (I'm serious! I love this song!) Dead 60s--Riot Radio (Aida, was that you in the blurb before this? Sounded like you.)

we had

in another comical aside

that Happy Birthday to Me song ("I'm feeling grateful for the small things today").

However, it isn't Mr. Shovel's birthday. Nor was it two days ago, contrary to what we heard on Jonesy. Rest assured, on Mr. Shovel's real birthday, there will be cakes arriving at the Indie studio. Or something. ;-) And yes, I do know when it is. And no, I'm not telling.

Nonetheless, that song made me laugh.

I'm actually not big on the Dead 60s song. :? Might grow on me, though. I am, however, crazy about the Stereophonics song Dakota. Gorgeous. And I agree with you on Ben Lee's Catch My Disease. And of course, we both LOVE the Blood Arm's Do I Have Your Attention? That song is fantabulous! Definitely one of my favorite features from Check One...Two. (Am I the only who misses the original "It's the people that you meet, when you're walking down the street, they're the people that you meet eaaaaach daaaaaay" Sesame Street song from the local artists features? I know they played it forever and wanted to change to something new, but I loved it.)
Rest assured, on Mr. Shovel's real birthday, there will be cakes arriving at the Indie studio.
And will you be popping out of it and singing Marilyn Monroe-style? You do understand, don't you?

Shovel's got a girlfriend? Hm. And here I thought he was saving himself for Steve. I finally got to listen to last Thursday's show when Jonesy would not stop hitting on Shovel. Oh my God, that was too funny. Remember the "no no no no no no" sound byte they used? Is that Ben Kingsley from Sexy Beast? I only saw bits and pieces of that movie, but it sounded like his whacked out character from there. I figured who better to ask about movie trivia than you. :D
