New Orleans set

Post by MicheBel »

New Orleans set during TK's show...

Real-life experience:

Bolt to Internet radio as soon as I see the Louis Armstrong come up on Yes.net.

Armstrong. Into Keane/McCartney mashup. Into "Big Easy Blues" (Hold on, New Orleans, hold on). Into Frank Sinatra--Pocketful of Miracles. Louis Armstrong's Basin Street Blues...

people keep coming up... "What is that?" "Is that the station you keep talking about?" "What are its call letters again?"

WOW.

To say nothing of how this set makes me cry...

"Country Boy in New Orleans"...

*********************************************************
OK, for those who missed this awesome moment, here is the full set list.

04:40 PM LOUIS ARMSTRONG Do You Know What It Means To Miss New Orleans
04:45 PM YEAH YEAH YEAHS Maps
04:56 PM KEANE Somewhere Only We Know (mashup with Paul McCartney)
"Big Easy Blues"
05:08 FRANK SINATRA Pocketful of Miracles
LOUIS ARMSTRONG--Basin Street Blues
"Country Boy in New Orleans"
05:35 PM RANDY NEWMAN--Louisiana 1927
LUKAS LOU--Down in New Orleans
BIG JOE WILLIAMS--Louisiana Bound
MEMPHIS LINNEY--When the Leveee Breaks
(the song coincidentally broke) instead they put on: 05:51 PM X 4th Of July (which pretty glaringly didn't fit in)
and ended amazingly just before 6 pm with:
"When the Saints Come Marching In"

ends with: "we are all in this together"

incredible...

If anyone has any lyrics available for these, especially the ones in "quotes", that would be just wonderful.

Shelter from the Storm

Post by MicheBel »

So, I just started watching the tape of last night's "Shelter from the Storm" concert that aired across all the networks.

What did they start the concert with? Something that Indie had already played three hours earlier:

Randy Newman, doing a stirring rendition of "Louisiana 1927". "They're trying to wash us away." Complete with images of washed-out New Orleans on the screens behind him.

Followed by born-in-New-Orleans Ellen DeGeneres, speaking eloquently.

Then U2, doing "One." We are all in this together.
