No this never happened to me but unfortunatly I completly lost the computer broadcast somehow and no more indie for me. But radio inetrference is pretty normal I think but to lose my computer broadcast is real confusing I've tried all the normal things to correct it but I at a loss for ideas.

The worst is trying to listen to 94.9 in my car. It's got a jazz station on one side, and a country station on the other. I invariably give up. At least Indie has some signal broadcasting strong enough to hear. (Still listen to it mostly on the Internet though.)

about trying to pull one over on me....I did more shit than you
could ever think of...and I got away with it.....ahhhhh
memories....I had this group of older gay punk friends and they used
to have think tanks on what to do with me or to me that could be
seen as slightly errrrmm...illegal....like the time that they snuck

Please never play Ben Lee "Catch My Disease" again, ever. If I
wanted to go back to the early 90s, I would let a truck drag me
until it reached 88 miles per hour. It actually scared me into
almost thinking Indie had switched formats all of a sudden.. OH GOD

However, Im sure there will be plenty of young dudes at the show who will be more than happy to oblige you! Let me know if you really want to come out by e-mail and I'll put you on our list and get your guests in for $6...

If not, we have plenty more shows coming up...

So, what else is going on? Does everyone stream INDIE @ work like me? Or are you all relaxing at home with a latte and some pot?

Well, my other groupies bailed on me. :-(

I'm still planning on going, though I don't have a ticket yet. :-(

I'm probably gonna be begging the doorman to let me in, cause I just know this is gonna sell out.

But, most likely, I'll be there, and will say hi.

Man, you taskmaster you...!

But you know, groupie training is different from regular average type training. They should be like polishing our shoes or something... hehe.

The de rigueur initiation rite is getting through to backstage without any kind of pass. (Course, I may be testing these very skills tonight, being as I'm going without a ticket.)

Whatever happened to flashing, btw? I think that's a seriously lost art that needs to be revived. (Course, the last time a guy flashed me in Chicago, first I laughed, then I gave him a Sex Addicts Anonymous schedule....which I just happened to have on me. Boy, did he run away FAST!)

And anyway, a girl can just never get enough penis. (IMHO)

Hey, first of all I'm the VIXEN (RLV)!

Second, I'll deign to speak to you even though you dissed Ben Lee's Catch My Disease, which I love. Open your heart, Steve, open your bloody heart.

My day is: Indie on the computer at home from 6-7 am while waking up and dressing.

Indie in the car from 7-10:15 (don't ask).

Indie on the computer at work from 10:15-3 pm.

Switch to Halloran (94.9) on the computer (sorry, TK) 3-6 pm.

Back to Indie for the rebroadcast at 6-7 pm.

Home, and no Indie. Rest, repeat.

Navarro on Conan O' Brian

Subject: Navarro on Conan O' Brian

They repeated the Dave Navarro episode last night. Does Conan bug you all as much as he bugs me? he is SO annoying. He's like your little kid brother...or the guy hanging around your social group that really doesn't belong. He's not funny in and of himself..but he tries to latch on to the funny thing that was just said and he parrots it back....not adding a THING to the humour.

For example...Dave was talking about the Bachelor/ette party they had in Vegas in a suite with a bowling alley. And he made a comment that was kinda funny that Carmen was hanging out with the strippers and Dave and the guys were bowling. So then, Conan says, "So...Carmen was hanging out with the strippers, and you and the guys were bowling. hyuk, hyuk, hyuk." And there wasn't a hint of sarcasm or irony to what he said. It was just made as a statement.

It's painful to watch this guy..and it's scary to think that NBC thinks that HE'S the best they can offer to replace Leno.

Dissenters??

As to the second one, I ALWAYS Swallow. Course, I don't go around advertising it. Can get you in a lot of trouble, especially if there's a lot of people standing around listening.

And I have a better one (that works better than number 1): I have breasts. And I don't even have to say it, all they have to do is look. Once they do that, they just assume the second one. heh.

I'm getting in. I'm not even worried.

Kerouac? Hell, I was thinking more Bukowski. (I'm reading Bukowski's Hollywood at the moment, actually.)

It's been said to me that I should write about all my sexcapades over the years. I actually started once, from the first guy. I was gonna go in sequence (and yes, I do have them all written down, last names even--it takes up volumes. :-) no, kidding about that last part, only a few pages. ) ;-)...anyway... I started once. It was gonna be titled, "One Thousand and One Nights With Michelle."

But as I kept writing, the damn thing depressed me so much, I had to put it down. It ended up being this saga of this girl having all this wild sex, but never finding happiness. Hopefully, I'm in the process of starting a new book now. "Michelle's Guide to Finding Happiness."

Wonder which one would sell more? ;-)

I've always liked and admired Conan. Sometimes his jokes fall flat, but you could say that about any comedian. I liked his show better when Andy Richter was on it.

I didn't see the Dave Navarro episode, but I'll bet Conan hasn't experienced anything like what he was talking about. He's probably jealous.

But Conan is miles above that jackass who used to be opposite him. So glad he's gone. I've blocked his vile name from my memory, but Craig Ferguson has got his show now, and coincidentally, as I just went to look that up, realized that Jonesy is going to be on there tonight. Cool. Too bad I'll be out partying!

Damn, you make me laugh so much...

I have to say, although I'm all for naming penii, I never ever named my breasts. They are rather like a small country, and a name just wouldn't do them justice. Someone called them "my lovelies" recently, and I rather like that.

Actually, most of the things people call breasts really bug me, and believe me, I've heard EVERYTHING, in several languages. (Insert Men Are Pigs speech here.)

And trust me, the breasts ARE the first thing anyone is introduced to, since they arrive ten minutes before I do. ;-) And I don't need an ice-breaker. Men see breasts, they start talking to me, trust me. And I will be (as we used to say at Playboy) "wearing my breasts" tonight.

Not sure how to approach our lovely TK. Feel guilty about not listening to him anymore. Just doesn't understand. My allegiance is and always has been with Halloran. (Nothing personal, TK, honest.)

Can I say one more time, how great a DJ TK is, and how Indie is so lucky to have him? ;-)

Yeah, he's got a mohawk, I've got breasts. Should be easy to meet, though.

And second, the human requirement from now on stays.

And last, you don't like Ben Lee's song, so you don't count as the human requirement.

Yeah, when I tell people even a little of my sexual history, they do say things like, I can't believe that happened to you. So it would be a page turner. Or a primer on what NOT to do.

The most transcendant sex is still ahead of me, methinks. ;-)

HA! Dave was cool on the show yesterday. TK should be proud for remaining unflappable in the face of homosexual revelation. Good work TK and get Dave back in as soon as possible. I think TK would do Dave with Eddie's Dick and Jake watching. Or any combo you choose. Super size it.. what?!? Thank you, drive through.

Irish names are great. Eammon is very cool.

Irish men, on the other hand... KIDDING. (sees teams of Irishmen coming after her)...

Yes, I knew Conan wrote for The Simpsons.

I have a GREAT picture that I took from this Playboy party of Conan (who's like 6'7" or something) standing next to Ruth Westheimer (who's, no joke, like 3'4"). It's absolutely hilarious. I shoulda tried to get it published somewhere. He's actually handsome in person. Lotsa red hair, though.

I have this minor problem from time to time as well and I live in Huntington Beach. I live in the direct path for Long Beach airport so when a plane comes off the ocean and begins to head towards LBA I hear the pilot asking if its ok to land it is a brief interruption. It is a bit of a pisser especially during an interview or while
waiting to hear who the band playing is boom Pete the pilot interrupts the broadcast.

Oh, for heaven's sake, girlfriend. DOWN, DOWN. Just cause I'm calling myself a groupie and the RLV, doesn't mean I'll be swapping spit with TK soon, or ever, even. (God, why does this seem like a TK bash session, honestly, it isn't...) I'm just saying....I just wanna TALK to the guy. Talk. Wave, even.

No tonsil action. NO swallowing of any kind. He gets enough of that action in the studio. A small chat might be a refreshing change.

Loads of luscious ladies and killer tunes. I think I just heard TK on air that there are no longer tix being sold at the Key Club box office they are over sold.
I am sure the lovely ladies in this group will have no trouble getting in though sporting the candy I'm sure.

Actually, if I had to guess, I would think that Eddie would take very good direction in that area. Just cause he's angry on stage, doesn't mean...well, you know...

So, Steve, who would do it for you then?

And an interesting factoid here for the group: the woman that most straight women would like to sleep with (well, other than ME) is Angelina Jolie.

I would bet that Colin Farrell would be the male equivalent, but I'm not sure if that's factually correct.

Hmmm.. I think I would totally dig on someone like a Seth Green or perhaps an older man like Sean Connery or the like. I like people who know what they want.

As for chix... I really like Scarlett Johanssen and I thought Thora Birch was rrrreeeeeaaalllly cute in Ghost World (which I just saw)... I like strong chix with a good sense of themselves and their own paths in life.

Ok so far on Indie I have called in and won
1.Dave Navarro's autobiography
2.Tix to Dave Navarro's Panic Channel Key Club gig
3.New the answer to a song Dave played on guitar in studio and won Big Bear ski tix.

I also have all Janes Addiction albums on vinyl and cd and have seen Jane's several times even back in the old Club Scream days in downtown LA.

Now does that make me gay for Navarro?? Not that there is anything wrong with that. :)

Well, the question is: would you DO Dave if you had the chance? And how many beers would it take?

I really think there are just some people who are so seething with sexuality that anyone would do them (Angelina Jolie, as mentioned previously, Colin Farrell; and I do think both Dave and Carmen fall in this category).

Thanks to Indie for returning Buzzcocks to the LA airwaves! Now if they'd just add "TV Riot" - the new track by The Adored featuring Pete Shelley of Buzzcocks - to the rotation I promise to never listen to KROQ again! ;-)

I started listening to KROQ way back... when they really were independant, and they did play Buzzcocks and Pete Shelley then (not to mention plenty of other great punk, post-punk, and new wave). But as everyone here must know, KROQ hasn't been good in - well, who can remember when?!

Okay - I'm biased because I work with Buzzcocks. But really Indie's playlist is by far the best overall I've ever heard on a commericial station.

By the way, "TV Riot" is available as a free MP3 on http://www.rocktheadored.com.

Anyway, I know what you mean about certain people oooozing sexuality from their pores... Dave & Carmen for sure. Heck, if I were into boys, Dave would be IT! But, I'd rather have Carmen for a little while! *winks* Hey, BOTH would be a party, no? So I don't think you're "gay for Dave"... just an admirer. Cool! You're definitely comfortable enough with yourself to even approach the subject. More than most guys could say. They just freak out "Dude! I ain't no fag!"

He's got a Mexican background. I remember a few days ago he brought up being Latin to TK or on his own show.

Anyway, he mentions it in this interview. Bottom part:

But I have a hellacious head cold and am home from work. (Just my luck, eh??) Anyway...I told Kevin (the guy that called me) to give the tickets to another listener who would be able to go and not puke or pass out like I probably would. So, for those of you who entered....good luck!!!

I miss Scream too. But I remember it when it was on Olive? In an old run down building that belonged to the county. But this was...18 years ago! Those were great times!

Dude, first of all, they play TONS of Buzzcocks. Just played "I Believe" this morning. And you shouldn't need ANY further convincing that you should drop KROQ and listen to Indie. Sheesh!

Love, love, love the Buzzcocks!!
Yes Indie does do a smashing job of playing loads of Buzzcocks matter of fact I recently heard "Fiction Romance" on Jonesy's show soooo good.
I remember when you could hang out in the back parking lot at KROQ when it was located on Los Robles street in Pasadena years ago. You could visit with the dj's and guests in the lot it was quite a party.
But that was a long time ago when KROQ was cutting edge now they are about as sharp as a butter knife.
KROQ was roq of the 80's remember and that was a long time ago.....
We want the airwaves!!
Thanks Indie!!

Yeah how crazy was Scream at the Embassy?
I was a underage as well but I don't think they cared much back then. I remember seeing I think it was Tex & the Horseheads and Janes play and that place was going crazy everyone smashing the whole joint up. I think leaving the place was ever scarier with all the homeless trying to mug you. Good times at Scream.

Yeah I am a live & let live love & let love kind of guy and yes I am very comfortable with myself alright!!

I think if my memory serves me correctly did Scream start at the Embassy and then UCLA bought the building and so Scream moved to the Olive location???
Going down those stairs at the Embassy and entering the main room was like entering Dracula's basement.

I watched Jonesy's appearance on the Late,Late Show last night very funny stuff classic. Jonesy brought Craig Ferguson an album by a Scottish singer who's cover pic sported some hellacious teeth so funny.
I think Jonesy got some good Indie plugs and could have had more but Ferguson went back to talking about the bad toothed Scott on the album right when they were about to talk more about Jones's Jukebox. Jonesy ended the interview by lifting his shirt and unleashing his boiler.
Jonesy claimed "I have a bit of a weight problem" and puffed out his tummy.
Laughs all around!!!

I knew it, I knew it, I knew it.
When Weiland was talking about his management not knowing he was doing Jonesy show today and screw 'em anyway if they find out I knew it was because KROQ did not want Velvet Revolver on Indie.
Now Weiland just confirmed it on Jonesy show did you hear it? KROQ can try all they want to keep the talent out off Indie airwaves but any musician worth their salt knows Indie is the real deal.

when Scream was on Olive, it was a floating club (one of the firsts) you were not carded to get in. You did whatever you wanted to or could. They were at this site before the got their licenses and went to the Embassy. I remember this because I could not get in to the Embassy show of the Cult! And that was way after I had been going to the Olive location.

I never got to see the Police live and I really loved Stuart Copeland's drum playing. Ah hell the Police were great period and the way they ended just blows hard and heavy.
I so want to see Stu just going ape shit on a drum kit while playing kick ass Police songs (just not Roxanne I think I have heard enough of that for a lifetime).
Here is a recent article regarding Stuart and Andy Summers jamming with Incubus at the a certain radio stations xmas gig. Stuart talks about his passion to jam the old Police stuff again.
Sting is a total pisser.

Holy shit what a great show. I had a blast there talking with everybody and watching the great music. Carmen Electras bombshells were like watching a Victorias Secret commercial (I wish they had stayed on longer).

Im still feeling hung over and I didnt drink a damn thing.

On Jonesy today Scott Weiland was in as a surprise guest. We had to keep it under tight wraps until he went on the air or the Label and management would have done everything in their power to shut it down.

Cudos to Scott for not only having the balls to cross the line, but to openly discuss it on the air.

Nope..no Juliette...but Courtney more than made up for that omission.

I was bummed...some people I met said they saw Lemmy over at the Rainbow playing video games before the show. Then Jonesy was talking about the scene after the show at the Rainbow.

I saw Redd Kross in 88 at the Roxy, and it was cool hearing them sing "Laughing at the assholes at the Rainbow".

Hey Indie...THERE'S a group i've yet to hear in the playlist. Where's the Redd Kross...or even Steve McDonald group?? A convincing argument could be made that Redd Kross were one of the first "grunge" bands (at least the 80's/90's incarnation of grunge).

As a matter of fact...offer the McDonald bros. their own time slot. They've already been doing "Redd Kross Reality Radio" for a while. It's a cool little radio program on their website.

Miche's Saga of the Sold-Out Camp Freddy Benefit:
Part One, Getting In

Well, I promised this saga to everyone, so here it is. (Sorry, it took me like a day to recover from it all...Like Mr. Shovel said, damned if I didn't feel hung-over, even though I didn't drink a think. It was that kind of show.)

Let's go back to Thursday afternoon. TK announces on-air on Indie that if you still don't have tickets, you can go down to the Key Club's walk-up window. This turns out to havebeen erroneous, as Key Club people found that tickets had already sold-out that afternoon. Mind you, I'm still at work while all this is going on, and I'm bound and determined to attend this sure-to-be amazing show. Later, TK announces: forget it. The show's sold out. (This is probably around 6 pm, and it's already PAST sold-out.)

But, you know, I had so planned to go to this, we'd all talked about it in here, a report was due back--I just had to be there. So I get all dressed up anyway, and go down there. The front of the Key Club is festooned with many signs proclaiming, "SOLD OUT." As if that weren't enough, as they begin letting people in, they proclaim loudly about how sold out it is, and don't even think about getting in without a ticket.

Nonetheless, I go over to the Indie booth (get some stickers! YAY!). They have buttons, wristbands, all sorts of Indie gear. And next to it, despite the warnings and signs, is a crowd of many hopefuls, just like me, who've come down hoping to run into someone, anyone who might have an extra ticket. Some of them give up once they realize the futility. Others arrive to take their place. It proceeds like this for awhile. I sit down.

As it turns out, I'm sitting next to a friend of Steve Stevens, who tells me that he's finishing up in the studio and really wants to be on the bill tonight. People are fighting to get in, musicians are fighting to play. It's that kind of show.

I talk to some of my Indie friends, who also tell me there are absolutely no extra tickets to be had anywhere, not even for Indie staff. Any sane person gives up at this point. I get it, I get it. It's SOLD OUT. But I had forgotten that I had gone down there in my groupie best attire. High heel shoes, short flippy skirt, oh and the breasts, shall we say...prominent?

I say goodbye to my friends. Start trudging up the hill, skirt swirling in the breeze, without even ASKING anyone for a ticket. To my utter surprise and delight, one of the Key Club's door guys has FOLLOWED me up the hill to my car. (I won't say his name in case he gets in trouble for doing these things, but THANKS MAN!) He asks me why I'm going home, and if I would consider staying if he could get me in. Gee, let me think for half a second. HELL, YES!

So, moments later, my friend sees me inside, and laughs. Eh. He should have expected it. Breasts are mighty powerful things.

Miche's Saga of the Sold-Out Camp Freddy Benefit:
Part Two, The Show Begins

...continued...

Holy shit! I cannot believe I'm inside. I have to laugh too. Perhaps they have a beautiful woman quotient to fulfill. Or at least breasty women, since I see many of them inside, wearing the breasts. As a silhouette of a woman dances on the screen in front of the raucous crowd, I smile, thinking about how wonderful it is to be a woman sometimes. Silly me, I forget the powerful currency of breastage in Hollywood.

And as I'm thinking this, the first act, Carmen Electra and her Bombshells arrives. Wow. Wow. Wow. Like Mr. Shovel said, like a Victoria's Secret commercial. Lots of stunning lusciousness on parade, and far too short an exhibition of it. But for me, it gave me a chance to see up close and personal how stunningly beautiful Carmen Electra is. I mean, everyone knows that, but damn. I honestly think every inch of her body is perfect. Round where it's supposed to be round, full where it's supposed to be full. Just stunning. And I think there were other dancers on stage, I remember one pretty luscious black woman in particular, but man, my eyes kept getting drawn back to Carmen. She's like the Marilyn Monroe of our age, and I never really realized that before. And then, at the end of the far too short show, she opens one of her garters, as if it had broken. The garter on the inside of her thigh. Oh my goodness. Heart-stopping. Too sexual for words. Can we say yummy?

Too quickly, they are off the stage. I don't know about anyone else in the crowd, but I need a breather after that. Amazingly, people are still streaming in. The photographers who are all perched on this makeshift platform disappear. There are two VIP areas on either side of the mosh pit where all the plebes stand. These fill up quickly, with people jostling for position. "Must be inside this rope line, cause that means I'm important" kind of stuff. I'm not big on the rocker faces (as to who they are), but I know there are many big name musicians here. I do also see Michael Vartan and Ashton Kutcher. (Didn't see Demi, though that doesn't mean she wasn't there.)

The next band, something like the Tender Trio, plays. I'm enthralled with the singer's voice. It's a bit of a letdown after the Bombshells, I must say, but still enjoyable.

After they leave the stage, the mood palpably changes. More people are streaming in, it's getting really packed. I see Aerosmith's Steven Tyler sneak down to the VIP area, entourage in tow. The photographers hop back up on their platform and add a few more to their numbers (probably about eight now, including a videographer). Smart guys, they take shots of Ashton, who appears to be standing on a table so he can see above the masses in his VIP area. Dude, I work for a place that would buy those off you....

The energy has become electric. And Camp Freddy takes the stage. I'm sure everyone on this board knows all about Camp Freddy, but for those who don't, it's essentially celebrity karoake, except they play and sing everything. But it's all covers. Good covers, covers that rock the house, but still.

They START with Sweet's "Ballroom Blitz," a song that I'm sure Sweet in concert probably closed with. It's a showstopper tune, and they open with it. Wow. Dave Navarro in the most luscious black leather pants, low-slung. Donovan Leich, so sexy it's unbelievable, in a blue shirt and jeans. At various times, he takes off and puts on his glasses, which makes him even more sexy. You can also see him throughout the show, at the sides of the stage either smoking a cigarette or mouthing the words. It's unbearable endearing.

Somewhere in here, I decide that Indie is indeed the station of sex. I feel no compunction now, about discussing various DJs' penises in this forum, because between goddess Carmen Electra, and Dave Navarro onstage at Camp Freddy telling the audience which band members and guest artists had large penises, it seems quite fitting. At one point, during the second song, "Ziggy Stardust," the line about "well-hung and snow-white tan", Navarro grabs Leich's package and rubs. Damn. Is it getting hot in here, or what?
