Don't worry I got those factoids out of a book and I'm not at all sure that I understand it.

What do you make of it? I get the impression that you get on well with numbers and math(s) and arithmetic.

yes...yes these things as they appear as ratios of real
numbers are as they are LCD's, LCM's...are effective
rules for adding or subtracting rational and irrational
numbers blah blah blah...etc,etc....

I knew that you were stretching it into a metaphor. I was just curious as to why this bit of lazy English journalese is now taken as the Gospel, when it makes no sense.

I mean I think it comes from a desire to call something "low," which Eric Partridge in his Dictionary of Slang was more than happy to use and I quite like.

For instance Partridge would say that the phrase "fuckpig" as an epithet was low.

I believe I read in another dictionary (not Partridge) that a "fuckpig" " - was an:

"extremely unpleasant person."

I found that hilarious. At 14 such things are very amusing when you should be learning your times tables - sigh.

Sorry Shloe I gave up cigarettes 5 weeks ago and all this weird annoying clever sod pedantry is my withdrawal in full flow. I really do by the way have problems with numbers! I know what an LCM is though and it's not the Lunar Command Module either.
